It takes a long time to approve a drug in USA for public consumption. Why was this missed during test stages?

The recall has to do with the markings of measurements on the cup vs the instructions. One is Teaspoons and one is millimetres which could lead to overdose due to doing errors.

The medicine itself is just fine.

Shouldn't give aspirin to kids as it has been linked to Reyes syndrome..
I think Advil (ibuprofen) is alright to give using the correct dosing/measuring devices.
