Champs Camp August 18-23, 2018

It's rude because this thing is five days long and they couldn't wait 24 hours to do a matching shirt pic when they know 3 people weren't going to be there. especially because the three of them are former national champions and not scrubs.
I imagine the schedule is tightly packed (remember, most of camp is technical feedback and other season prep) and this was the only time everyone would be together. I also imagine the schedule was set far in advance, before they knew of the wedding conflict. We'll see Jason and K/O in the team bonding activity. :)

Talk about making drama and taking offense for nothing. Apparently one of your favorites was left of a picture and now it’s rude? LOL

What does it mean for the TBD Pairs spot at Skate America that both Calalang/Johnson and Digerness/Neudecker are both at Champs Camp?

They're competing for it? I think D/N train in CO Springs? If so, it didn't cost much to have them there.

...or some rules are being minorly bent to to get one of them at another gp event...even though pfund/santillan are the only us team high enough on the sb list unassigned, personally ok with that based on summer comp results...

Same thing as last year? S/B and C/L had no assignments and were invited. Theoretically they were competing for the TBD at Skate America but both ended up picking up assignments. Bradie and Ross were both invited with no assignment. They were assumed to be the TBD Skam pics, but they had to be monitored and skate well.

Refresh my drink. Is Amber Glenn invited??

No. Unless I am blind (possible). She is not in the picture. I think the fed maybe over Glenn. She just isn't reliable. Hicks or Wang or Gracie I guess will pick up the TBD spot. It makes more sense to give them 2 spots to avoid a Katelyn Osmond 2011 situation where she won Skate Canada and had no other assignment. Not that Wang or Hicks are likely to win a GP but they could medal.

Do you have a source for this theory? With as slow as USFS is at updating its international assignments page, it seems equally plausible that Miner and Tennell had been assigned SA, but USFS hadn't announced it, i.e. TBA v. TBD.

Yes I have a source on this theory, but you can be invited to CC without an assignment but you have to show you are ready to compete. I mean see Gracie last year. USFS pulled her from competing. Do you have a source saying otherwise? It's the way Champs Camp works. Programs get ditched, feedback is given, etc. Two pair teams were basically told they were fighting for the SkAm spot last year. Nothing was ever set in stone. You are more than welcome to think whatever you want but Digerness/Neudecker and Calalang/Johnson aren't both getting spots this year.

Maybe I'll just try to describe who I don't know. I'm sure there will be at least one I will feel stupid for not knowing!

Guy in glasses next to Gracie
Girl in between Mariah and Starr
Also the girl behind her with light brown hair
Blonde guy in front of Chris K
Girl with short hair in front of Quinn Carpenter
Guy behind Angela Wang

I think I managed to figure out a few other ones I didn't know at first

The people you described are new seniors or possible TBDs, so it's okay!

I doubt those skaters will be crying all night because they weren’t included in a group pic :shuffle:

Megan has two scores this summer higher than Katie's best. Plus, she placed ahead of her at Nats (although neither was very good there).

But they're both awesome. I would be happy for either of them to get the spot.

Lol! I think I am getting the two of them confused. McBeath is having a good season, though. I am going to be honest, I don't remember either one from Nationals. McBeath's Detroit scores are pretty close to Wessenberg's plus she won Philly. At least they seem to be spreading the wealth around.

I think Katie is several years older than Megan (22-23 versus just turned 20), so perhaps they feel Megan has more potential?

I think McBeath is 23? If they aren't willing to invest in her maybe they should push her into pairs. She probably would be a good pairs skater. She is tiny and a good jumper. I know that doesn't equate to a great pairs skater, but I wonder why the USFS isn't more active in pursuing lower tiered ladies into pairs. With the ladies field as deep as it is internationally there seems to be more opportunity in pairs to get assignments at least. I am sure we will get our 2nd spot back at worlds this year.

From what I hear, they are but the ladies (or their parents) are not interested. The fear of injury is just too great.

My daughter tends to be a risk taker. She looks at pairs and sees what is expected of the lady and she says no way.

Not too mention there are not a lot of Male counterparts.
