Carreira/Ponomarenko Need a Cheer Thread

NBC Olympics article by Talia Barrington today (Nov. 20. 2025):
Excerpts:
The only way Carreira wouldn’t lose her Green Card was if she trained in Canada, but lived in the United States. Thus would begin the next four years of hours-long drives over the border five days per week as Carreira drove from Saint Clair, Michigan to train.
“The mileage on my car is crazy,” Carreira said. “I had a three-year lease, and I got the car right when I moved to London, and when I returned it, the kilometers were over 100,000 (62,000 miles). They were like, ‘What did you do?’ I now have another one that's like a year old, and I think I'm already at like 60,000 kilometers" (over 37,000 miles).
The impact hasn’t just been on her car. The drive can be exhausting, and the physical and emotional toll has not been a small matter.
“It's definitely less than ideal, especially in the winter,” she said. “That highway is basically all fields, so it's super windy, and if it snows, it's just really scary.”
But living in a small town far away from family, from her skating partner and friends, spending hours alone in the car has been isolating. “There's not much around. And there's also no one around,” she said.
Carreira said she now has her citizenship and she can’t wait to be able to move closer to the rink. “That's going to be so amazing. It's going to change my life.” [...]
Carreira says she was honored to finally memorialize her status as an American athlete.
“It's really going to be an honor to represent the U.S. as an American,” she said. “I think with the driving and all the sacrifices I'm making, it's made becoming American even more meaningful. I really feel like it's my home here.
I've lived in America more than half my life at this point. Going to a competition being American is going to feel so special."

The RD isn't good. I've said it all season since they debuted it at the Summer Sizzler and I'm sticking with that view. Now, they've got 7 weeks before Nats to scrap it and go in a completely different direction.
The judges seem to agree with you. Surely they are working hard on making needed upgrades.

Hi everyone!!
I’m new here, but definitely not new to the CPom world! I’ve adored Anthony and Christina since their junior days, I’ve followed them through every step of their journey and I had the chance to see them skate live (and yes, I screamed my heart out! 😄).
I’ve been reading this forum for so long and I’ve always loved how much love, kindness, and support you all show them. It honestly feels like a little family and that’s exactly why I finally decided to join you! 🤗✨

Let’s keep cheering them on for this second half of the season! I really hope you’ll all take part in this nice project, because they deserve to feel how much they mean to us. Share your messages, dedications and wishes for their future, let’s show them how loved they are and remind them what makes them so special! ✨

Hey! I'm also sorta new here (I'm mostly a lurker) but I kinda wanna start talking more in this thread. I'm more of a new fan but I've been hyperfixated on ice dance for a while so I might as well join in.

I wonder if this was always the plan.
Serious question, but how would it have always been "the plan" in any kind of world? They have lost ground with two programs that most people don't seem to care for all that much and now they are returning to an old program at the very competition where they have to hit to make it to the Olympics.

Paging @skategal! :D
Speaking of recycled programs and sacrificial lambs….I wish C/P had gone back into the archives and used Perfume FD again.
ETA - and @SkateSand:
I'd like to see them go back to either Perfume (my favorite) or Carmen.
an eagle eyed fan noted that there is a song that wasn't in the list for the original version, so it's likely been tweaked some but I am super excited to see what it looks like
2025-26 [#3] FD Music: "The Girl with the Plums," "Perfume - Distilled" and "Meeting Laura" from Perfume - the Story of a Murderer and "The Big Smoke," "Strictly Taboo" and "Deceit and Betrayal" by Audiomachine

From their wiki (2023-24 FD music):
"The Girl With The Plums" (from Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) By Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek & Reinhold Heil
"Strictly Taboo" "Deceit and Betrayal" By Audiomachine
"Meeting Laura" (from Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek & Reinhold Heil
Choreo. by Marie-France Dubreuil, Scott Moir, Madison Hubbell & Adrián Díaz

Fantastic.

Can’t wait to see it. :40beers:

I've listened to the new pieces of music - these are so much more dramatic in my opinion. I (like most on this thread!) loooved original Perfume - but if I had one criticism (or at least one that I could see being leveled at them) it would be that it was more subdued. Subdued and quiet in a really lovely way though. But for an Olympic bid, I think they'll take some of their Carmen drama and add it in to make a more dramatic version of Perfume.

I think the only way I can really describe what I mean is that Pre-Nationals Moulin Rouge was beautiful, subdued and very lovely but Olympics Moulin Rouge was big and dramatic and cinematic. I think that could be the game plan here.

Excited to see what they've come up with!

Now if we can get G/P to bring back Wuthering Heights and LaLa to bring back Roses then I can relive my 3 favourite programs from 2024 :D
I am glad that Carreira/Ponomarenko decided to bring back and rework Perfume and now wish that Gilles/Poirier would have brought back Wuthering Heights instead of Vincent. But, to me, Lajoie/Lagha's Roses was lovely, yet bland, and I think The White Crow is actually their best FD and the right program to return to.
