They got the highest BV of all teams today - much like they managed last year when they tied with LaLa.

Still not sure why LaLa were so dropped today - they didn’t seem as on it as usual but dropping them below sd was…. A choice. However - must feel good for Christina and Anthony to beat them again for the first time in years. Next quad will be so good!!

As we were watching we both thought LaLa's FD was one of the least original.in the entire event. Clearly good Skaters and technically solid, but really dull choreographically and they seemed more reserved than in some past seasons.

I hope this wakes them up to get more into their creativity and expression. They're a good team and I think they can take the message and come back better.

So very impressed with the continued excellence of CarPon. Expression was off the chart in the FD. So happy to see them just keep getting better. Telling my age but I have been an Ice Dance fan since 1980 and back then we were lucky to see our National Champions on TV, much less the lesser ranked teams. Now, the depth is simply put, incredible. I continue to be amazed.

Popping in here to congratulate C/P on their showing at worlds. I admit I wasn't thrilled with Carmen as their choice of music as I'm old enough to remember the battle of the Carmens between Debi Thomas and Katarina Witt, but I enloyed C/P's Carmen more every time I watched it. But please next season don't have a program where the woman dies at the end. Something about that idea just rubs me the wrong way.

LOL - when I saw it, I honestly wondered if it was yours!
girl i was packing 4 people's worth of stuff (well 3 plus trying to predict what my husband would forget in his last minute packing) i didn't have time to make buttons too

also i saw Christina post from Skating Club of Boston where they were doing the lives for The Today Show with Ilia, Alysa, and Chock/Bates. Idk if all the US skaters were there?? Either way I hope we are finally getting the public cpom push we deserve going into an Olympic year (I am simply going to ignore the citizenship issue at this time because I'm hoping her being at the end of the very long process will mean everything will still go smoothly let me dream lol)

I wanted to bring some attention to Anthony's quote from this article:

“This feels incredible,” Ponomarenko said after their program. “Telling little Anthony five or six years ago that I would be in this position, I don’t think that he would have believed it. It’s special and I have no words right now.”

It really is remarkable how much they've been able to grow and progress in the past 5 or 6 years. I'm just still over the moon for how well this worlds went for them. Let's keep moving onward and upward!

“We feel really good about it. We actually had to fight a little bit in this performance,” Carreira admitted. “When we got off the ice, we weren’t sure if it was good or not, but everyone said it was, so we’re really happy with how it went. It was definitely a mental fight because we felt a lot of pressure coming into the free dance today, but we had a job to do, and I feel like we did it.”

This is interesting because I did think they didn't look super elated after their skate - but I guess it must have been apprehension!

Remember when they were known for making big mistakes under pressure and now we know they felt they were under massive pressure and skated one of their best skates (for the record I thought they looked relieved and exhausted after the fd which made a ton of sense but they never seemed like they were super nervous or felt a lot of pressure)

i'm so happy for them

Arguably one of the most consistent teams this season - biggest noticeable error was the stumble after the FD at 4CC? How far they’ve come!

I'm honestly getting really emotional thinking about how far they've come. Three years ago I was just praying they wouldn't retire or split, but their comeback has been nothing short of extraordinary. I watched all of their Worlds appearances last night and the improvement in every aspect of their skating is really striking. They're such a balanced team now with real power and command. While I slightly prefer Perfume as a program, Carmen has more crowd appeal and built more towards a big finish(and the audience appeared to really enjoy C/P getting a little slutty with it lol). The RD is so dancey and really fits the social dance theme, and their Carmen was really well done and fit the character of the music. Anthony apparently got a bad cut on his hand during practice which is why he was bandaged up for competition, but it didn't show at all, even though they say they felt the pressure in the FD. And that's really remarkable- having followed for their entire career, they very much did let the pressure get to them in the past, but they've become very cool competitors, especially notable in a season where a lot of top teams were hitting the ice.

I can't wait to see where they go from here. I am incredibly interested in what they decide to do for their Olympic programs. They've been really nailing the RDs and doing something a little different while firmly on theme, so I'm curious with what they'll do with the 90s theme. All three of their FD choices this season have been a little unexpected for them, so I'm interested in what direction they decide to go for that too. They've been really doing well with storytelling, character driven FDs- judges are fickle but they seem to be really digging a clear theme right now.

For me C/P are the perfect example of what you can achieve with a coaching team that inspires you to be the best you can be and doesn't have favourites. Seems to me they came to London broken down, literally and figuratively, and lacking in confidence. And to think some people were claiming it was a mistake to move their in their first season together. Seems to me these two found exactly who they needed to reach their potential.

Christina is 25 today! 🎂 Anthony's birthday post for her: https://www.instagram.com/p/DH_e2bnRCru/?igsh=Nm9kNnM0OHk4Y2N4

And here's Christina's post about Worlds: https://www.instagram.com/p/DH6L8RfRQML/?igsh=MXdjeWs3ZHZ1aDVreQ==
I find it kinda funny that out of all the millions of photos they probably have of each other from training or off the ice, Anthony choses to post two competition shots. But hey, only the best, high-quality photos for the birthday girl!
