Though, to be honest, in this particular field, while I was hoping they could snag bronze from either the Finns or Lithuanians, I'm satisfied with 4th. They should easily podium at Finlandia in a couple weeks.
practically I agree but my heart says they should be winning everything life is a battlefield sometimes

I mean, with better judging in the RD, I'd say they can beat the Finns but, let's be real... There's no way that TurkVer are losing silver to CarPon at home in two weeks. Not unless Matthias gives a blessed mess on his twizzles in both the RD and FD.

Well we can cross our fing— anyways that was a comeback! Also I really appreciate they're consistent now. Do you guys remember when they barely had any clean competition? Look how far we've come.

Absolutely! Anthony's twizzles were just glorious this week! Really steady and solid!
I remember him saying in the podcast with the trainer how much they had been working their twizzles and it shoes (also his improved ankle stability probably helps some).

I have a feeling their are going to be tearing that rd choreo seq apart and drilling it for the next couple weeks hahaha

Yup. I'm feeling like they're going to be VERY well-prepared by GPdF. So much so that I think HawBak are making a BIG mistake in not doing any Challengers beforehand. That's a tough field they're in with GuiFab, FBSoer, LopBri, and HawBak, but... bronze might not be out of the question.

Beautiful! Do you know the name of the score used?
It's the soundtrack to the movie Perfume: The Story of a Murder

or more specifically according to the isu bio:

The Girl With The Plum (from "Perfume - The Story Of A Murderer")
Strictly Taboo by Audiomachine, La Belle Époque
Deceit And Betrayal by Audiomachine, La Belle Époque
Meeting Laura (from "Perfume - The Story Of A Murderer")

I know just enough of the story of Perfume to know I will never watch it. This free dance will have to do me. :)

I really like this FD on them. I think it's a great vehicle and will serve them well as it grows over the season. The twizzles were great and got high GOE. I think if they didn't have the level issue in the RD, they'd have snagged bronze. Both programs are really nice for them. I've needed a team to root for with H/D retired and Hawayek/Baker out the back half of last season.

You what is so frustrating is that I would argue that this is their best ever Nebelhorn outing but it's also the only one they haven't medalled at and they scored lower than last time (if anyone remembers that tense outing where Anthony botched twizzles in the FD when they were ahead of H/B. They also beat F/G and S/A that year ha)

I agree that it's super frustrating in that it mostly seems to be dictated by internal ice dance politics. Like the judging was very clearly along block lines in the free dance. US, Can, and Monaco (the rogue haha) had them 2nd or 3rd, the other judges with teams in the comp put them like 7th which is just kind of absurd.

Good takeaways though: they are clearly putting in the work. Personally I think they have the strongest set of programs of every one I've seen so far this season. They are taking care of everything that they can control. And they basically had skating twitter united in saying they were underscored this weekend which is quite an accomplishment hahaha.

You know you're doing something right when Skating Twitter unites in your defense, lol!

There are some really gorgeous pic on this page from Nebelhorn including this one which is my fave (sorry it's kind of massive):

Wow, I'm in love with this. Beautiful, intense music, love the choreo...the music for the twizzles was spot on. They looked so confident all the way through. This will serve them well, I hope. It should. That's ice dancing the way I like it. Excited for the season for them!

I am very pleased that they look so confident on ice. I can vividly remember the silly mistakes they used to make that would cost then medals 😭😭 sometimes I forget they have been seniors for 6 seasons now and we're finally seeing the product of their experience. I recommend all of you to watch their flamenco FD from 2019 performed in nebelhorn and then Parfum. They're a whole different team

Just got to watch the RD. I loved it, too! Can't go wrong with Stevie Nicks. Anyway that was a kick a$$ program and shame on the panel for that score. But they know exactly what needs fixing and I have no doubt Scott and Madi will be on it. I just am over the moon over their programs this year. And yeah for putting that choreo lift from last year in the RD, so solid and gloriously beautiful.

Also just watched the entire Spero interview, that was excellent. A lot of fun listening to their stories.

Video in 2 parts on twitter (unfortunately) for those who want to see

You can see some changes to the choreo step. It looks like they were told their separation was too long because they used to do those chasses faces each other with windmill/airplane arms, and you can see Christina distinctively reaching to touch there haha (Anthony may be too but the angle is behind him so it's impossible to see). Anyway, better score than the last, which is all we can ask for. Best of luck in the free dance!

This FD works because of Christina. She does such a good job of showing the character through her body, not her face, that the story becomes believable. Anthony needs to work on that -- and I don't mean that in a harsh way.

Another set of confident, clean skates, where they also really hit their levels, had the highest BV out of everyone for both programs. New PB FD score, and are now 7th in WS. That 65 at Nebelhorn must have smarted but I'm glad they got it taken care of early and are back to scoring where they should be. Now to spend the next month working on polishing and performing even more, but I'm quite happy with this.
