I feel so bad for Ashley. Her frustration of having a dream likely die is hard. She's always carried herself professionally and she's a gracious person. Folks are making a huge massive deal out of the "furious" video and using it to finally express their "feelings" about Ashley.

She's had a fantastic career for a young skater who was not the most natural skater. She was the ONLY bright spot for US ladies for a while but it looks like the USFSA does not give a crap anymore. She'll be fine. I hope we see at the olympics as fan. I'm sure we'll see here in the media or commentating soon. She'll make great money with skating shows in Asia where she is loved.

She'll come out stronger from this experience.

Mon Dieu, you're talking as if something was taken from her! 2014 was mentioned; Mirai had something taken from her in favor of Wagner! She should have nothing to say after that; esp. her delusional fans who agree with her! :rolleyes: :wall: :kickass: :yikes:

Ashley didn't take anything from Mirai, the USFSA gave the spot to Ashley.

I didn't say anything to convey something was "taken " from her. That's your reasoning. I'm still not sure while you're posting (cough trolling) in a 'cheer' thread for a skater you don't like. Seems like a waste of energy to me.

Sassy Ashley is one of the few things that's kept me even minimally interested in skating the last several years, so I'm personally really sorry I won't see her at the Olympics. (Assuming, as of this writing, that they're choosing the top 3 placements.)

I agree with semogal that there's an "If only" feeling, wishing she hadn't had the extra pressure of debuting a program tonight. (And BTW I'm a musicals fanatic but I disliked LaLaLand so much I never even watched it all. But I *did* like this program.)

I do hope she can accept this disappointment, and keep training hard as an Oly alternate & possible Worlds team member. I also wouldn't mind seeing her (hopefully in person) at next year's Nats!

I also wish NBC hadn't further inflamed the haterz & casual fans by not explaining the '14 decision better. (That Ashley had been national champ the previous two years in a row, etc.) But hey, forget it, Jake, it's NBC. :blah:

People in the know are fully aware of that! It was still a crappy thing to do! She wouldn't want it to happen to her, but she gladly took Mirai's place! She can sit and watch this time! Maybe they'll give her a teary little segment tomorrow! :drama: :shuffle:
 
I thought LLL was really beautiful and I enjoyed the program a lot even with the pop and mistake on the lutz. I wish she’d had the opportunity to get more mileage on it. I’m hoping she doesn’t retire after this Nationals because I really want to see that FS again. And this seems like an unfortunate note to end such a stellar career on.
 
I was really unhappy when Mirai didn't get to go to Sochi and Ashley did. But, I didn't blame Ashley for that. I don't think anyone in her position would have turned it down. I guess part of me thinks that, if Ashley doesn't get to go this time that it sort of even things out. But, the problem is that I recognize that she has worked hard to improve these last four years and I really liked her La La Land performance. I also think she knew coming into tonight that the judges were not going to be kind to her and that must have been tough for her, but she fought. The PCS scores tell us exactly what the mood is with TPTB. Ashley is not going to the Olympics. And they really wanted Bradie to go. I'm finding myself feeling bad for Ashley. If you had told me four years ago that I would feel this way, I would not have believed it, but I do.

They also overlook the fact that Mirai had no coach at the time. The committee was not going to send a coach-less skater to the Olympics.

Besides 2014, people forget when Mirai actually won Nat'ls in 2008 she wasn't allowed to go to Worlds due to her age, so she's fought harder than anyone to get where she is! She really deserves this! :40beers: :cheer2: :cheer: :irina1: :oksana1:

Is she complaining about the scores or is she just disappointed in herself?

Regardless, I don't see her retiring. She will be back next season and I really hope she skates This LP to its full potential.

The USFSA is never satisfied for the most part! They weren't happy with Mirai who was coach-less and they hated Sasha Cohen for having a Russian Coach; actually forcing her to go American it seems! Their battles with Johnny Weir are legendary! :rolleyes:

So adding the TES together from both programs, she actually beat Karen on TES overall: 95.25 to 95.21.

Karen won because for the first time in her life, she earned higher PCS than Ashely.
 
In a world where "demographics" and ideologies are changing, the USFSA is having a difficult time finding the "ideal" skater that they want as a suitable representative for US Figure Skating.

It's time to move onto the new and sometimes the old has to be set aside first maybe if Ashley didn't spend 3 Olympic Nationals putting herself behind the 8 ball in the SP she would be a two time Olympian but at least be a gracious loser.

I liked this program very much for a first outing and it is such a shame that Ashley only seemed to come "alive" at this competition.

I think after a bit of reflection, she will come to terms that a trip to Korea was not meant to be and perhaps either realise if she wants to put a term to her great skating career or on the contrary, she found renewed motivation to continue competing.

One part of me would love if this "dissapointment" would actually fuel future success but I can fully understand if she would like her life to take a new direction too.

Well, given that at the Oly there will be 3 russian ladies, 3 Japanese, 1 Canadian, and 1 Italian (I'm sure I forgetting smb else also) stronger than Ashley. There will be almost zero chances for her to come back after a bad SP, as she usually does. Bradie is not going to get those PCS internationally. But maybe they can rely on her more for a stronger Tech. content and be more competitive. And Ashley had a bad year this season.
Honestly, I do not think she was underscored here. She certainly wasn't pushed though.
