It's not likely. The San Andreas and associated faults mark the boundary where the Pacific plate is sliding sideways alongside the North American plate. Today's quake in Mexico (and the 8.1 a few weeks ago) was in the Cocos plate, a different piece of the seafloor that is being pushed underneath North America.There was a 3.6 last night in the LA vicinity http://www.newsweek.com/los-angeles-earthquake-san-andreas-fault-36-667447 I would assume it was the "trigger".
I don't speak/read Spanish, but it appears that Donovan Carrillo's sister is missing from the earthquake. Hope she is ok.
