That is awesome. Turn the lights down in the arena and then the lights come on it's come Anna's wings. :)
Since I referenced the musical "Gypsy"'s Miss Mazeppa and her Gladiator Ballet in another thread, I might as well say this made me think of Tessie Tura's Butterfly Ballet and Miss Electra's costume lit up in succeeding sections by electric bulbs.

After all, in the words of Stephen Sondheim, "you gotta have a gimmick if you want to get ahead."

New Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova "proud" to be among sport's elite
Having spent nearly three weeks in the Olympic Village at Beijing 2022, the ROC skater is still enamoured by the elite figure skaters she looked up to as a junior - and now sits beside as an Olympic champion.

More than anything Anna has the mind of a champion and can remain calm in the midst of a great battle like the one she had with Sasha and KV.

Be that as it may, she didn't look calm to me....she looked lost.

There's a quote from her in the article @Sylvia posted that has a noticeable "if" in it

"I'm trying to fight a little bit with myself right now, because all people make mistakes. And if I want to continue, I guess I'll have to deal with it at some point and not blame myself, not let it eat at me," she said.

Sounds like she hasn't decided anything at this point.

I would be surprised if she goes to Worlds, she'll have an awful lot of commitments as Olympic Champion.

Anna understood that the team needed to focus on hysterical Sasha and devastated devastated KV 1st and foremost.

It's all history now and it's time to give Anna her due. I hope she goes on a victory tour of press conferences with Sasha like Alina and Evgenia did.
I will argue. I don't think Anna had a clue what to do. How could she? It is all so tainted. I am not sure a tour with press conferences is a brilliant idea. All people will want to know about is Valieva. What was Sasha's reaction to the mess? And the other part of all that is that I think Anna got a skating while Russian boost so she would win. I think it is a mess until the IOC bans Russian Athletes (I know, they are
the ROC --------oh and how did that come about? they were thrown out for dopping! Surprise)

Listening to Scott, Tara, Johnny, and other interviews...it should never have happened. Everyone I have heard has said loud and clear that she should not have been anywhere near the ice. It was crushing for her and hung a horrible dark cloud over a sport the love.

When someone on the TV News leads with a story about the mess at the Olympics............well you know it is everywhere.

OK - What is your plan?

My plan is for them to do a victory tour like 4 years ago. Why not? Anna and sasha are the pride of Russian sports
That is fine but does not address my concern. How do you plan to keep the the Valieva horror story from dominating all things figure skating? I just do not think it is possible. This is not 4. Year's ago.

And BTW. Russia is invading Ukraine. Who knows what affect that will have on any kind of plan. Who would be escorting her? Not Eteri I would hope.

Wow that is gorgeous

I agree. Gorgeous lines - gorgeous skater…and look at the turnout of the leg & foot in that arabesque!

I hope that Anna goes to Worlds and defends her title. Then the next year, then the year after that.

The situation with KV will be dealt with. I assuming all sides are taking their time getting all the information to present their case to CAS or whoever hears it. While the positive doping test for the minute trace amount of tmz is an important sports story and the guilty need to be dealt with in particular the adults it's not exactly the horror story of USA figure skating sexual abuse of women which are numerous and it's not exactly the horror story of USA Gymnastics letting Larry Nassar run wild for many many years molesting girls. As an American I am far more horrified by the mind numbing USA gymnastics scandal and the disgusting USA figure skating sexual abuse scandals that I am of the Valieva situation. Kamila can recover from this and still have a long and brilliant career. I don't know how any of these athletes ever recover from being molested whether it was by their skating partner or a doctor.

I'm also appalled How this fifteen-year-old athlete was thrown to the wolves around the world for a week and not protected as a minor athlete as she was supposed to be by w a d a and the ioc who actually leaked information about this minor athlete to the public.

This is not about 4 years ago. I sure hope Anya gets her Victory Tour she sure deserves it for being so great and never causing a fuss.

I'm not sure your point about Russia invading eastern Ukraine has to do with anything for Anna or Sasha or their team. I mean the embarrassing kids in cages issue we've had in the United States 2012- 2022 has no more to do with me as an American than Russia invading Ukraine would have to do with Anna or any of her teammates. They ain't responsible for VP.

I hope this clears things up. But probably not. ;)

I would love to see Anna more but I have mixed feelings about this. It is so hard. I admired Alina for making the effort in 2018 and coming back in 2019 to win the World Championship but it seemed to me it weighed on her a lot to go on without a break. I think it might benefit Anna to take a break, at least from this year's world championship. For one thing, its her time to bask in the glow of her accomplishment.

What comes after that, we will see. I feel like Anna is well grounded and has strong support and will make the best choice. Even then its very hard to continue after winning the gold medal.

For now, I just hope for her to choose to skate in exhibitions and for us to get to see all the vids!!!

Anna's exhibition skates are a sight to see aren't they?

She probably won't take a break because she made be worried that if she takes a break she won't come back. Right now Anna is probably the favorite to win Worlds and she could hold two World titles and the Olympic gold medal at the same time.

I hate to sound negative but so was Alina Zagitova in 2018. There really comes a time when a skater can't do more, after a very stressful competitive season. Maybe Anna is different, she certainly has a remarkable evenness.

She will decide what she wants of course, to me, I think celebrating the Olympic gold should take precedence for the rest of this season.

Anna has the toughest disposition that I’ve seen in ages among Olympic champs…Witt’s mental toughness! She also is blessed with an unchanging body…she is almost 18 and still pre-puberty reed slim (like her mom). Mother Nature has been extra-kind.

she should celebrate her Olympic championship for a long time. I'm just not sure Anna is wired that way. Hopefully her parents can tell her to take some time off and recover physically from what has been a very grueling season.

I get the impression that Anna is a very mature young woman with an unique ability to focus on the goal and not be disturbed by distractions. Also she is a couple years older than Alina. I think she will be fine at worlds. She may or may not win the gold (May be Sasha could) but she will give two solid performances.

One thing she said that I quoted earlier makes me optimistic, that she understands that she will make mistakes. Its important if she continues to compete to be able to accept that rather than feel devastated as if she hasn't lived up to her achievements. That's a very positive attitude to take into future competitions should she decide to go that route.

She would be the favorite for Worlds for sure, but no doubt she knows that Sasha can beat her. If they both go, it would be really something to see.
