Hammers and sickles were everywhere back then. It is a war medal (on a postcard). Anna is just remembering the Second World War, on the official Russian Victory Day (May 9).

I don't know anything else. But since Anna is at the DSC, I am assuming the choreographers are Anjelika Krylova and/or Pascuale Camerlengo.

I am assuming the Russian Fed is paying for Anna to train at the Detroit Skating Club? If so, I take this as a good sign. They are investing in her programs for next season; they haven't written her off. If they had, she would be at home, working with some third-rate choreographer.

Davis and White trained at the Detroit Skating Club for years-- and Zoueva was on staff there-- before they all packed up and moved to Canton. I haven't been to the DSC since last summer, but those banners were there then.

The main questions are how will Anna recover from this meltdown at Worlds and how will she compare to the other girls. I don't think we can compare her meltdown or situation with the others mentioned. There are probably ten ladies fighting for three spots? Even at their best, USA and Japan didn't have quite that much. Joannie did have a bad performance at the 2009-10 HPF but other than her and Cynthia, there was no one else. Leung had disappeared by then. But Russia does look at the current season so if Pogorilaya redeems herself, she still has a chance.
