Pairs event was my highlight of the day, who would have thought!

Kind of surprised they didn't try to recruit the Shibs. If they were gonna come back skating for Japan would be an automatic Olympic spot and team medal.
No matter how much thinking and planning and strategizing everyone does, it always seems to come down to something no one expected.Wouldn't have predicted it kind of came down to Ellie Kam not falling but hopefully it gives her more confidence going forward.
Nothing against Kaori, but: Yuna Aoki.Yuma +Kaorifor Japans next dance team.
I know I said I wasn’t a big fan of her skating, but I need Amber to know that she won that gold medal too. Every point counted and she fought through that performance and landed many triples and ended strongly.
The shibs will have renounced their Japanese citizenship years ago.

Came down to -US weakest discipline scored more points than Japan’s weakest discipline.
I'm pretty sure that the gold is out of reach. Unfortunately,On the positive side, I hope it means C/B have gotten their golds and can happily be off the podium at the IE or whatever.
They certainly did! No gold for the USA without their superb effort. They surprised and thrilled the heck out of me today. Huge congrats to them (and, of course, the rest of the team).Shout out to Kam/O'Shea, who came through big time today.
Ilia put more combos in the second half for a much higher base value as well. Sato squeezed out 20+ points just in GOE where Ilia got 15.Damn. I thought Sato might have done it, but no. Good for the USA, and I'm ecastatic for Italy bronze.
This is the first time I've been interested in the team event. That was a great contest.
I kind of wish there was a team event every second world championship (like during the odd years or something) or during the middle even year worlds of an Olympics quad cycle.
Medalists getting marching orders backstage. There are many rules!
