2026 Olys Team Event PBP Day 3 - When Your Bum Hits the Ice and Your Legs In the Sky - That's Errore!

Well, it was like thread policing. If you found a place that gave you satisfaction was there a need to pop in here and be all superior about it?
Have you ever heard of the saying pot meet kettle?

But a suggestion. Liberal use of the ignore button. It works. some of the most annoying people on here I have to un ignore just to see what they’re saying today. Generally reminds me why they’re on ignore. It does occasionally mean you miss something but generally when I look at it with the button turned off it’s not anything useful. I’m sure I’m on some people’s ignore and that’s fine with me.

We don’t all have to be besties

If France had qualified for the final the results would have been reversed.

I don't think so? Lopareva and Brissaud were going to do the free dance. Siao Him Fa, Schild, and the Kovalevs wouldn't have made a difference either in terms of pushing down a US athlete but not a Japanese athlete.

I lost track of the tiebreakers, but even if FB&C had skated and won the free dance (not guaranteed), it would've come down to a tiebreaker.

Right, I'd missed that Lopareva and Brissault would have done the FD.
I think there was a chance the Kovalevs could have pushed down Kam amd O'Shea a spot too, that's what I was thinking.

Went back and watched the Pairs and Women, which I missed this morning. What an awesome competition all round. After being fairly uninterested in the previous team events I may finally be a convert.

I wasn’t a fan of the team event at all, but this was overall just really good!

My favorite things were the whole pairs segment and Rizzo and Sato and the Italian teams joy (even though I’m now behind in the betting game with my best friend, cause she predicted Italy to be 3rd and I picked Georgia ).

I hope Sato realizes how amazing he did in hindsight! (if Japan had a competitive dance team they totally would have won overall I think).

I always really try to enjoy Malinin, but I just can’t when he’s not at his very best :shuffle:
For me he needs to skate 100% clean and have high energy to be enjoyable, otherwise it keeps looking jagged/sloppy to me.

I just rewatched Matteo, Ilia & Shun's FS and Johnny actually was interpreting that exchange during the broadcast. Raf asked if he felt good out there and Ilia said yes, per Johnny.
There was an exchange where Ilia responded, "Nyet." What was that?

Was catching up with some of the skates last night and had to replay to make sure I really heard Tara say that Amber would need to add a combination later in the program because a combo is required in the short program after Amber missed her combo.

She also said the program was 2.5 minutes

I know producers talk in the commentators' ears, so maybe the producers said something about it being the short program?

But Amber did need to add a combo because she repeats the Flip. And she did ;)

Tara probably just needed a good night's sleep on her Saatva. I was so mentally and emotionally drained at the end of the event, I can only imagine what it is like to actually be there, and jet lagged.

I was glad the US won, but only because the Japanese dance team is really just so far below standard for the Olympics. I want the rest of the world and the every 4 year fans to see how awesome Amber and Ilia and Alysa really are, so it wasn't as satisfying as it could have been. I hope Amber shook off her nerves and kills it next week. I really believe Ilia will just get better with each outing, and Alysa is so consistent. I know it's not the same, but since the US skaters have that I am kind of rooting for the Japanese skaters to grab the individual golds.

And agree with the poster above that a medal for Isabeau would be awesome. That would mean every member of team USA who was in the mix comes home with something.

That's a somewhat unfair characterization of the Japanese team. They started off the season with a weak FD and that dropped them out of the top 4 at Skate to Milano, but they're not a terrible team by any stretch of the imagination. They might not have made the FD had they qualified in the individual ice dance event here but they do have a pretty strong RD that could have beat at least 1-2 teams who did qualify for the individual event (Wang/Liu for sure, possibly either Val/Kazimov or Reitan/Majorov).

If you saw Tara’s social media posting with her luggage. She has enough luggage that there should be her special mattress packed in there. It looked like she was moving to Italy.

I am surprised with the way all the Japanese skate they don't have a dance team that is up there. Because they all have fantastic basics. But never used to have a pairs team either. Don't know how their Japanese skating program works but maybe it could be a focus of development.

They have 2 newly formed teams that I think should be great in a couple of years.

Yoshida/Morita beat Wang/Liu by over three and a half points in the RD in the TE. They scored within 1.2 of Wang/Liu at the Beijing qualifier overall. The next team after them at the qualifier scored nine points less.

Yes, @VGThuy and @rfisher and I are all noted conservatives here on FSU

Amber Glenn's sportmanship and advocacy are laudable. Her skating does nothing for me.
Perhaps "racist" was the wrong term. Homophobic maybe? maybe I took the whole comment out of context and if so, I apologize to all you lovely people and the Admins
