To me the heros were Ellie and Danny. Ellie because she dug in deeper than anyone expected. And Danny for standing by here through many a disappointing performance.

He has a great shot. Yuma is the better skater but less consistent.

Not to be petty, but seeing Danny O’Shea with a gold medal makes me think of that mean-spirited blog post Tarah Kayne wrote about him and how she painted him as some head-in-the-clouds unrealistic dreamer who annoyed her too much. I know she had it really bad but I felt that piece was mean.

So if Kam and O'Shea hadn't finished 4th, USA and Japan would have been tied overall and on the first tiebreaker. I think USA would have won the second tie breaker because the points are so lopsided favoring men.

I'm so happy that the Milano Cortina organizers have convinced the IOC to ditch the next day city center medals ceremonies and the athletes are getting them at the venues this year again. We don't have to wait a day that turns into 2.5 years for these skaters to get their well-deserved medals!

Kind of surprised they didn't try to recruit the Shibs. If they were gonna come back skating for Japan would be an automatic Olympic spot and team medal. And in all likelihood, subbing Yo/Mori for the Shibs would have won Japan the team gold.

So happy for Charlene and Marco. As I've reconciled myself they won't win an individual medal, I am SO happy they got one here.
