Very stressful closeup on him trying to lace the skate as fast as possible. I wonder if skaters have actual nightmares about this, like those dreams when you're trying to dial a phone number but keep getting it wrong.

Two Americans skating to Canadian country representing Azerbaijan. Yup, this is ice dance.
Now, I know they started off with Shania, but since when are Brooks & Dunn Canadian?

CAN'T BELIEVE SOMEONE IS SKATING TO THE BEST SPICE GIRLS SONG aka Never give up on the good times! :cheer: :cheer:

Well, Mark says he’s Swedish, so there’s that.
Yes, with that well-known Swedish surname of Mackenzie! ;)

I know, I know, his mom is probably Swedish, but he was born & raised in Toronto, so how frequent are the family trips to Sweden?

Did Ted get hit on the head or something? Why is he taking us through Skating for Beginners on day 3 of a competition that probably only hardcore fans are watching?

He’s being kind to the folks who just wandered into the bar.

On another shallow note, I know that these teams are mostly just happy to be there, but I wish Júlia saved this dress for a different style.

I wonder if the ISU hopes some people who watched the Olympics will take interest in the next available competition.

I’m, for one, fully appreciating these explanations.

In Brazil, there’s been an influx of new fans since the Olympics.
We’ve directed them to watch junior worlds (it’s for free 🤷‍♀️…), so this sort of commentary helps a lot. The ones we had in our own language during the games absolutely sucked…

And hope that they stumble into the ISU YouTube channel. That’s as big of a stumble as stumbling into the wrong bar.

There’s a proper Finn in this competition. She skates for Spain.

ETA, it took until the 7th team to get a mostly green set of blobs.

Rozhnova's hair must have taken hours to do. It's like Metelkina's hair on steroids.

After 2 of 6 groups we have the first ice resurfacing.

We will see the first Q appear with the next group.

Scrolling through the ISU bios, the juniors seem to have much more variety in their music choices than the seniors. Ace of Base, The Cardigans, Destiny's Child, Fatboy Slim, Faithless, Moloko, loads of MC Hammer... did the seniors hog all the Ricky Martin CDs?

I like Deych/Hu, but they look a little rusty today. Of course, as Mark is saying, they didn't know they were coming until about a week ago!

Hi everybody. I got here just in time to catch the end of the USA team and all of the Ukranians. As Mark and Ted are saying, "what a way to celebrate a birthday." Tatiana will always remember the day she turned 15 years old. And, I just can't help it .... I have to dance in my chair to "Can't Touch This." Just happens ....

I'm still sad Anderson/Dawson aren't here, though I like Homick/Buelow too. I wish Canada had three spots.

Summer and Nick's twizzles weren't great, but the rest looked strong. Love their expression and energy.

Fun unique costumes for the Swiss skating to Daft Punk. Swiss teams are doing great creating concepts. Nice glide across the ice, think they could add some more power to their skating to make it even more impressive. Cool knee spin from Weiderkehr ala Candeloro--I would have liked to see them both do that in sync
