2026 CDN Jr./Sr. Sectionals/Challenge & Skate Canada Trophy

Ruiter looked like she two footed the combo and later touched down on the triple loop. TES is about a point below Shiryaeva before review...

ETA: combo gets an under rotation but her PCS puts her ahead of Shiryaeva.

Jeff Buttle is in the kiss and cry with Megan Woodley (and Lee Barkell). Buttle is listed as one of her coaches in her ISU bio.

The tracker is showing Shiryaeva's TES in the leader box even though she is second. Oops.

Amy Shao Ning Yang did easier jumps than in the past (loop combo and sal) but seems to be skating well. She looks a lot different to me, I didn't recognize her. I think it's the bangs.

Yikes Brezen opened with a surely downgraded triple flip, then had a wonky double axel. But she eked out a triple lutz double toe combo later. Still skating with her trademark smile though! A nice program though to we've only just begun. The lutz is showing up as under rotated. She has probably dug herself a huge hole here. Hopefully she can rebound in the free tomorrow.
Tough year with injuries

Lin struggled a bit with an under rotation on the lutz and a q on the triple toe combo but she still broke 55 points. The scores are so close at the moment.

Interesting a sal combo from Landry, but a huge triple flip late in the program (probably the best jump performed so far), along with her huge double axel to open. She reminds of Pezzetta the way she goes into her jumps, so much power it's hard to control the combos sometimes.

Oh looks like they gave Landry a ! on the flip so her GOE went down but still positive. Into 3rd with a 57.85.

Wow Kwon opened on her axel. Oops I thought she would win this competition easily.

Terrible idea to make the top of the scoreboard red. It makes it look like everything's getting negative GOE even when there's a green positive GOE box right under it!

Kwon goes into the lead despite the single axel, under rotation on the combo and ! on the lutz. Can't really argue with it. 61.66. I wonder if she there is any chance she will be cleared to competed for Canada in time for junior worlds

Is Lia still too young? What is the age required? Quinn is 13 but Victoria would be old enough. I forget though maybe these skating senior are still juniors

There are quite a few who are age eligible and have the TES minimums (Cho isn't old enough yet). Startek is one of them. I really have no idea who will get the spot. A few of the contenders are skating senior here.

A really surprising fall on the 2a from Justine Miclette. It looked like maybe she gave it a bit too much power on the takeoff and then was too far forward on the landing.

Miclette is one of five former Canadian junior champions in this field (along with Daleman, Lin, Shi, and Ruiter). Shame about the axel fall, At least she didn't pop this time. 54.76. Again the scores are so close. Lots of possibly movement tomorrow.

Even with the lutz fall she looked really strong, I am sure she will still be in the mix

The tracker continues to show the highest current TES (Shiryaeva's) and not that of the current leader.

How many students does Birkell have? I've been in and out, but it seems like every time I see a K&C, he's in it.
