2025 US Nats Mens SP PBP - Wich You Were Here

Kapeikis could've gone places by now with a change in training environments IMO. He's stagnated beyond belief, the programs are lame, and the energy doesn't ever seem to be there.

I really question Joey Russell's ability to choreograph programs with one ounce of creativity, too. Between this and Boyang Jin the last few years and Wesley Chiu.. he's the new coming of Julie Marcotte.

Good technical skate here to hold on, but the skating does absolutely zero for me.
I wanted him to go to Raf back when he was in juniors, and I'd still like to see him move from Vancouver. Or, as you note, at least find a choreographer outside of BC. But, I have no more confidence in his ability to progress technically than I do for his training mate, Wesley.

But, I'm glad he skated clean today!

Kapeikis gets a lot of spring and is nice in the air, but seems to slow when he needs to ride the edges. He could use a little lube in his joints so that his movement quality is smoother.

that fw is really good but I agree that he makes everything else look like work

Naumov: 4 S(plat) yikes! The 3A is butter though! Good 3z/3t. His spins are much improved over the last few seasons. I seem to recall them as deathly slow.

As cringe as the choreo was, I preferred Liam. Max performed, but he needed that sal and everything else looked rushed.
