2025 NHK Trophy Womens SP PBP - Time To Say But Why?

Lin-Gracey

3z-3t fall, 2a nice, hard to believe she’s the skater that knocked Nakai off jr. World podium last season, hits some lovely positions, but face is not expressing

Everhardt

3z-3t I’d review—toe especially looked close, fall on 3r, another blank-faced performance from an American, is no one telling them to ooze anymore?

Can I just say how refreshing Samodelkina is? Her posture isn't great at times and she isn't as polished as some others, but look at how she finishes her jumps! So many wonderful nuances in that programme. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance.

And of course I just want to watch Aoki skate to anything for hours on end, without jumps.

Just catching up, the two standout programs for me were obviously Kaori - that was just amazing a class above. I also really loved Samodelkina, she is more secret hope for this season as I love her combination of athleticism and artistry similar to Kaori. I still think she is being undermarked. Agree with PC with the US likely choices.

OOF that event was horrendous - yikes.

Kaori - sheer brilliance and single handedly resuscitated this event.

Sofia - LOVE her and one of the best short programs of the season.

Young - great skate. Love how she's breaking out of the lyrical Korean ladies mode.

Loena - yikes. She looked so good in Beijing but was just really tense here. The fact that she's in FOURTH with that skate is so sad.

Yun - the < on the toe was harsh and she should have been above Loena even with her stiff hunchy skating and all.

Sarah - the clean combo call was a major gift since the toe had less rotation than Ahsun Yun's. Also her PCS should not be that close to Sofia and Yuna Aoki's. I would have had her below Anna. Overscored here.

Anna - excruciating music - torture.

Elyce - always looks like she's about to cry. Garbage program but pretty solid on most elements.

Aoki - my queen. crazy jumps today though.

Wakaba - dear lord what happened.

Spence - yawn.

Kaiser - rough.

Not stellar comp, obviously. It was wonderful to see Kaori deliver an almost perfect skate and Sofia was fabulous. Other than that, glad I didn’t get up at 5 AM to watch live.

It is nice to hear that Sarah and Elyse are friendly rivals, though.

I have a friend that is an extremely casual fan. I told her not to bother because there was a lot of busted asses and doubles.

That frustrated "f*ck" at the end is the most emotion I've ever seen from Everhardt on the ice.
Came here to say this also after just watching through everything 😂

What a letdown of an event. Not disappointed I fell asleep before it started. The Japanese women all seemed like they were styled for the event and looked fabulous!

Yuna Aoki is glorious, Samodelkina will one day get the boost I think she’s deserved for a while now. Kaori was wonderful.

Oh wow what did Amber give her? I never even heard about that.
I don't think we know! Mark mentioned in his commentary that Amber had helped her create a new SP. I don't remember if we heard the exact degree of involvement, may have been as little as suggested the music, or as much as full creation, not sure.

But her team apparently decided it wasn't working, and switched her back to Broken Vow.

Was this the same program from the Olympic qualifier? If so it is completely forgettable.
Just catching up on the thread here, it is a different SP. Loena posted on Instagram 2 or 3 weeks ago that she was changing the SP but didn't announce what it was. I have to say, just on principal, I'm a little disappointed she picked the Celine Dion song from the Deadpool 2 soundtrack and didn't have the program be on theme. She could totally rock the Deadpool suit and sure, Deadpool 2 didn't have Lady Deadpool in it, but it could still work.
