No TES to rely on (and the spins.. :blah: ) but once again these mid level Japanese skaters have so much to like about the basic skating quality.

Such nice knee action, arms are sensitive to the music.

a Japanese singles skater with a double axel? but exquisite posture

Does he want to switch to ice dance?

Haru Kakiuchi 🇯🇵
Coach: Sayaka Yodo, Utako Nagamitsu
Music: Love the Hell Out of You by L. Capaldi

3Lzq+3T
2A
Change Foot Sit Spin 4

3F!
Flying Camel Spin* - flying entry landing was poor, loss of speed, no value given
Step Sequence 3
Change Foot Combo Spin 2

An ease to his skating, and jumps. Unfortunately the flying spin entry was botched.

61.59 = 1st Place

Taking inspiration partially from Evan Lysacek? No thanks.
Jimmy is just about the furthest thing from Evan Lysacek that I can imagine, so I'm very confused as to where he draws inspiration from Lysaceck, lol.

Jimmy Ma 🇺🇸
Coach: O. Ganicheva, A. Letov
Music: The Firebird Suite, Witchdoctor

4Tq - fall
3A
Flying Camel Spin 3

3Lz+3T< - step out
Step Sequence 2
Change Foot Combo Spin 4

Change Foot Sit Spin 3

Very rough program for Ma. Jumps didn't snap into rotation they way they needed to, and the program fell flat as a result.

-1.00 = Falls
69.44 = 2nd Place

Program got much more interesting post -Firebird. Because in that first part the ONLY choreography was randomly lifting his arms to an accent of the music. Wish he’d just go all out with the modern vibes even if he said somewhere along the way that he likes skating to classical music.

Rusty jumps here. Seems crazy he’s already 30.

Boyang Jin 🇨🇳
Coach: Zhaoxiao Xu
Music: Fought and Lost by S. Ryder, B. May

4T
3A
Flying Camel Spin 4

3Lz+3T - double 3-turn between jumps
Change Foot Combo Spin 4
Step Sequence 2

Change Foot Sit Spin 4

Decent skate for Jin. The program is still not doing anything for him, but he seemed committed to the performance.

-1.00 = Time Violation
83.92 = 1st Place

I really don't find Boyang's skating to be good. The basics are so weak, the posture is horrendous, he cannot hold any edges or difficult turns in step sequences or transitions, and he gives next to nothing presentation-wise. Zero impression with me except that his PCS will be extremely overmarked.

I never get attached to any performance from Boyang anymore. Every time one program goes decently the next one is a mess.

Gabriele Fangipani 🇮🇹
Coach: F. Mascarello, G. Cotugno, M. Guarnieri
Music: People Get Up and Drive, I Got You

4Tq - weight back, big step out
3A
Flying Sit Spin 4

Change Foot Camel Spin 3
3Lz+COMBO - fall

Change Foot Combo Spin 3
Step Sequence 2

Entertaining performance - wild jump technique - applies to several skaters in this first group.

-1.00 = Time Violation
-1.00 = Falls
64.78 = 4th Place
