Now the Super Bowl, or not so super, is over it's time to think about draft

Right now the NFL has a wealth of QB's
Josh, Jayden, Lamar, Jordan, Jaylen, Justin, Joe, Brock, Patrick, Kyler, Jared, Tua (please no more concussion), Matthew, Baker, Jamis, CJ, Russell

Where, for whom and when do you think Cameron Ward and Shedeur Sanders will drafted? (They are list 1 and 3 in the mock draft. The next QB mentioned doesn't appear to the 52 choice in mock draft)

I remember when teams were rushing out to get QB

My guess - Ward pretty high (top 5), Sanders bottom of the first round or towards the top of the second.

20-30 years ago, J names were in top 25 consistently.

I think Sanders is too much focusing on Daddy's name. When NE won over CO, he wasn't exactly well...
The good news is that Shedeur Sanders is at least somewhat more articulate than his father.

Last week, Deion graced us with comments on the transfer portal "Like, NCAA, y’all gotta do something, man. Don’t just sit there on your hands and open them up so everybody can grease your darn palms and make a ton of money off everybody and don’t have nothing to say about nothing. I don’t understand that part.” I'm not sure I want to imagine hands being greased while you're sitting on them.

Apparently he doesn't have an agent to do behind the scenes negotiating. His social media posts before and during the draft are not too flattering towards the draft. There is currently an abundance of QBs right now.

President Trump is appalled he hasn't been drafted in the first or second round.

Steelers are betting with an Aaron Rodgers (didn't they watch the Rodgers fiascos of last year?)

I'd say there are many things against Sanders

If Sanders can shut his month, be willing to do whatever needed (like tight end), be the back up QB learning the system he could turn out to be a great QB

Mahomes was near the last to be drafted. Spent several years learning from Alex Smith. Look at him now

A tidbit about what may have happened to Sanders:

Also this is a bit sobering when you look at quaterbacks and the draft. So many who were "sure bets" never made it or spent a season or two as a back-up. It is a staggering number who do not make a team. Check out the Draft History (Quarterbacks). If there was any question about Sanders I can see why teams would back off.

Well, the Ravens drafted a kicker. Could this be the end for Justin Tucker (who is being investigated by the NFL for sexual harassment)?

Speaking of investigations, the Ravens second-rpund pick, Mike Green from Marshall, has 2 sexual assault allegations under investigation. I am not happy. Surely there could have been some good defensive players who aren't abusers?

So the above list are the QB's taken in the draft since 2013. Sometimes you have a great draft year like 2024 though not often. The thing is these young men usually had sparkling college careers and were often talked about as a sure thing on the next level. The reality is most won't make it. I'm curious to know the reasons Sanders fell so fast and so far. But I didn't see him as a sure thing than say like Andrew Luck who was the real deal coming out of college.

Even Mahomes....losing record in college, plays a style that does not suit the NFL, no footwork, smart with a big arm. How many would have bet on him? I hope Sanders proves people wrong.

A lot of commentary is out there that Sanders fall was due to racism, the need for white people to humble confident black men, etc., etc. There is definitely a problem with black men being labeled as arrogant or aggressive when they are confident or assertive. I saw a lot of confident and joyous young men get drafted in the first round, celebrating their hard work without any arrogance. But, is it merely confident or does it cross the line to arrogant when you brand yourself as “Legendary” before you have achieved numerous accolades. He’s got NIL $, but No Heisman, no National Championships. When you throw yourself a huge “Legendary” high end party (not just the NFL draft lounge or family on the couch) to celebrate your first round pick? Was his dad making too many comments or phone calls? It does seem the NFL teams decided to humble him, but he went pretty far over the top. Plus, not that many teams need a QB so his fall only required 4-5 people to see a red flag. I do agree that the anonymous assistant coach’s comments were crap. Either put your name on it or if was trash talk by an interested team, label it as such. Why drag the guy down by going to the media with that?

Sanders came in to the Nebraska game with a puffed out chest, can't beat me attitude.

Let's just say it was more than just the normal game talk. And a big win for NE.

I think that many in the NFL have learned from what happened to past top draft favorites who were also personally problematic. Especially at quarterback. Johnny Manziel is probably the best example of this.

He's an okay qb. He would need to be on level with Lamar, Patrick, Josh etc....for me to take a chance with him. His father could end up being a giant pain in the ***, his living out loud as he does may cause distractions within the team and then when I, as an owner or coach, criticized him the racism card would be hurled my way. It is so tough to win even with a cohesive team buying in....one bad apple. I hope he proves the owners wrong but I wouldn't have drafted him.

I'm reminded of the kid a couple of years ago who hyped himself as a #1 or #2 pick. He had his own room at the draft filled with tens of his supporters, I'm not sure where he ended up being drafted. Obviously he's not playing at a high level or Id remember his name.

He was white.

I remember Eric Crouch who won a Heisman - he was drafted by St Louis Rams (tells you how long ago when Rams were St Louis and Kurt Warner played for them) also white. Anyway his ego was he would only accept QB as position. Wouldn't play tight end - he was better for a TE. Cut and searched for a team. Finally ended up in CFL and not at QB at that.

You gotta stuff your ego, have a fairly firm offered before the draft begins to be that arrogant. You can't tell me that the top 30 haven't had an offered before it is announced.
