They are allowing more teams from the same country into the International event these days?

Also, no Neset & Markelov? Something delaying their season? And no Tali & Lafornara?

I expected the Israeli head-to-head:).

Happy to see Lim & Quan signed up.

What do you mean? I don't think LPIDI has ever limited the # of entries from any country to no more than 3 - certainly not the US, and I'd be hard-pressed to see them do the same to Canada.
Also, no Neset & Markelov? Something delaying their season? And no Tali & Lafornara?
Both of those are rather notable non-entries, for different reasons.

Tali/Lafornara were mentioned by the event organizers when asked on IG last week, so their decision to not compete must have happened after the entry deadline. Hope it's nothing too serious, but it's really notable that both Dozzi/Papetti and Manni/Roethlisberger & they were supposed to - seems that Italy is, like a few other countries (AZE, ISR) using this to decide who will get the OQE assignment.

Neset/Markelov weren't mentioned on the LP list of "notable entries", so it would seem they never planned on doing this event which is certainly surprising, especially since the new WASA team of Calhoun/Zheltyshev (he's another Russian import) are competing in the jr int'l. They've been posting clips from training over the summer, so it can't be anything too serious. Maybe they don't think they have a realistic shot at the SkAm host TBD spot, so they figure why not wait until they're more prepared with an early Sept Challenger.

Yes, but I certainly wasn't expecting the Italian head-to-head - though maybe I should have seeing as DozPap train at IAM-O and TaliLaf split their time between Italy & Connecticut (bummed TaliLaf aren't here after all).

I thought we had a good chance of an Italian head-to-head because, during the Olympic season, we commonly see head-to-heads at LPIDI for countries that have multiple teams in the running to compete at the Olympic qualifier. (Countries like to get this squared away early, which I think is good for mental preparation for the qualifier). On top of that junior teams with North American connections often compete here in order to earn a senior qualifying score + juniors have more time to prepare after Junior Worlds than seniors so the juniors tend to be ready by Lake Placid + they have the need to prove themselves.

I don't think I've ever seen more than 5 teams from the same country compete in Lake Placid International.

Interesting that Calhoun/Zheltyshev are in the junior international. Have they even competed domestically yet?

OTOH, I can see why USFS would want the rising novices to compete against each other and not pick one to push to international. And the scoring isn’t always as strict in the domestic (let’s reach that minimum ISP score, judges! :skandal). New team Robertson/Rohner may be the most deserving of those competing in domestic, but skating as a “favorite” will be a good new experience for them as well.

@her grace - yeah, it's a bit puzzling to me that the two teams on the ISP - Robertson/Rohnert and Kouevi/Homawoo are at the NQS while the yet-to-be-seen new team of Calhoun/Zheltyshev are competing in the Jr international. Not that I suppose it matters much since usually both the Int'l and NQS Jr & Sr events are judged by international judges or international level US judges. LPIDI's scores across both events are almost always fair & don't suffer from as much domestic inflation as other comps.

I wanted Tali/Laf! And Nes/Mark. Darn. So many US teams and neither of my favorites. But very curious about Flores and partner, Abo/Ves, Israeli hard-to-head and so on.
There's another Israeli head-to-head happening at Cranberry too for the OQE Men's spot! You should find a reason to make a weekend trip to Boston the week after LPIDI, lol.

LOL. I’m on grandmom duty that weekend. And with all the CS’s and JGPs coming up, I have to be a bit selective if I want to stay married!

I wasn't aware Ecuador had an ice dance team.
:shuffle: Although after I looked up their ISU bio I guess they only began competing last year (?), and weren't nearly competitive enough to get the TES for something like 4CC.

Maybe this will help someone:

This is for the Championship competition that starts today at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
The leaderboard for the International Competition still says the competition has not started. In the announcement for the International it mentions the draw for the first event will be Monday evening July 28 so I guess the actual skating will start on July 29.

Looks like we lost Manni/Roethlisberger, Wolfkostin/Tsarevski and Koncius/Shchepetov from when the initial entries were published last week.

Since Flores is competing in the “domestic” event, is that a signal she’ll be competing for the US and not France?

Not necessarily. Flores/Desyatov last competed at the Denis Ten Memorial in early October, so if they are going for France (or Denmark) she won’t be eligible to compete internationally for another couple of months.

Forgive me, but I’ve never understood how they schedule the “domestic” and international. The schedule above is just the international?

Can’t imagine that USFS will use this event as the skate-off for the TBD SA spot now that Neset/Markelov and Wolfkostin/Tsarevski are not competing here. Guess it will be test skates at Champs Camp that determines it.

Forgive me, but I’ve never understood how they schedule the “domestic” and international. The schedule above is just the international?
Yes. B/c the domestic (NQS, Solo Dance Series) and int'l (Senior B) comps are managed differently, their schedule/results have separate pages/links.

And where is domestic time schedule??

Never mind, I found it. Senior dance is at 11:30 tomorrow.

Posting this here because videos usually show up for all of this competition together.
