Wish they would let us stay in the arena. Never seemed to be an issue during other events.

Blame the freeloaders. I have actually been in the bathroom at skating events and heard women discussing how which they bought the ticket for the cheap morning event and “we’re just going to stay all day”. I’m sure Boston has decided the way to handle it is you leave and come back


And considering that when we looked for tickets for my friend to join me, some of the events are almost sold out you could not really facilitate a lot of freeloaders

It's kind of crazy when on Saturday (if you watch the medal ceremony) there is only about 45 minutes between events. I don't know how they could realistically empty everyone out of the arena and get everyone back in within that time frame.

Maybe they will only do the arena "bowl" and not the concourse? . You know, to allow people to buy overpriced concession food.

I saw that timeline and wondered how they're going to accomplish that. There was a similarly tight timeline one of the days in Montreal and the concourse got so jam packed with everyone leaving at the exact same time that it took forever just to get through the nearest exit.

Bags no larger than 14″x14″x6″ are permitted for the World Figure Skating Championships. All bags that fit this requirement are subject to search upon entry and they do not need to be clear. Backpacks or rolling suitcases of any size are not permitted.

One of the reasons why I'm not attending Worlds this year, despite being so close to Boston, was not knowing about this arrangement. However, I don't think I could stand sitting on a folding chair for so long.

I always enjoy the penguin exhibit as well as the gigantic cylindrical fish/animal tank that spans all the levels of the aquarium.

The penguin exhibit has periodic talks, as well as at the top of the fish tank. I believe the outdoor sea lion exhibit also has talks.

But your ticket online. You can save some money as well as not having to fight the crowds at the ticket booth.

I say yes. We go every few years and there’s always something new and interesting to see. Heck, a couple of hours of reasonable quiet just staring at the sharks might be a nice break from the competition.

I probably will do the aquarium or a museum on the Monday before the event, possibly on Sunday... but I've kind of planned on Sunday to be my day to tourist shop and explore a few (or more than a few) dining spots/bakeries, etc.

If you go on Monday, I'd recommend early. They open at 9. If there are any school field trips scheduled, the buses tend to arrive later. IME, school trips tend to be more in April and May than March, so this may not be a huge issue.

I’ve not been to the Aquarium, but I’ve been to the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stuart Gardner, and I would recommend both very highly.

I second this. They are both fantastic museums, world-class. And there is a T stop right in front of the MFA, and the Gardner is a very short walk around the corner. So they are very easy to get to on transit.

But the truth is even in spite of the recent issues, the most dangerous part of your trip if you’re flying will be the car ride to the airport.

FYI, a heads up that if you want to explore every single section of the MFA for fear of missing out, you may need at least a full day to do so, even if you blaze through each room quickly. I went with my family a few years ago and we enjoyed it. I liked the overall layout and the penguin exhibit.

I checked the parking fees at the Westin. I think I'm going to have to overcome my anxiety and get on a plane.

I flew last week to Orlando for a work event. Coming home, it was cloudy with light rain/snow at my home airport. Woman in the window seat in my row had pulled down the shades so I couldn't see anything. I didn't think we were as close to landing as we apparently were and when the plane hit the ground with a loud (unexpected) bump, i nearly stopped breathing for a second or two thinking we hit something.

The crash today was on a snowy runway and the plane was the same type of puddle-jumper that crashed in DC. SW doesn't fly those small planes so I think I'll be OK (although they fly the lovely 737 MAX 8).
