Paul Ayer had one of the more acrobatic falls I can recall in ice dance — another context and you could almost have passed that off as choreo.

And that's a very reasonable opinion to have. It has nothing to do with the fact that the judges split and D/W won, and the tides shifted going into that Olympic year.

Chock/Bates will only invite that shift if they keep getting dinged with level 2s, imo.

I looked up the 2013 results. All three of today’s top teams were there, the only ones left except Alison Reed. The lesson being that if you hang in there long enough….sigh.

Yep, Carmen was one of V&M’S strongest FDs but their hatred of the Yankee Polka and SD struggles that year prevented them from winning. I’ve always wondered why they stopped working with Jennifer Swann - she gave them great programs.
