No way. ChoBat have the strongest FD of the top 5 by a fair bit & their RD has improved enough.

GilPoir's FD is sooooo bad, there's no way they don't lose whatever RD advantage they have to ChoBat in the FD and lose overall.
The Italians are better than both of these teams. Too bad they can't seem to get the judges on their side. And there are the Brits too who are ready to capitalize on any mistakes.

Watched the replay, and glad I didn't stay up to watch it live when the feed kept glitching and cutting out entire elements of the programs.

Of the lower-ranked teams, I was very impressed with Yoshida/Morita. They made that midline a highlight with incredible speed!

Lim/Quan: program looked new, not as fully committed as the older teams. Nice technique and nice performance and lots of room to grow.

Harris/Chan: They always strike me as a good, but not great team, but today they looked really on. He was into it as much as she was and they hit to their ability.

Fabbri/Ayer: Ouch. Starting to seem like a nervy team. I know being in this position is new for them, but this isn't the first time they've counted a major mistake this season. And since this program is much stronger than their FD, they may not rise that much even if they skate well in FD.

Zingas/Kolesnik: The feed cut out so much so hard to comment on this program. When I saw the base value for the PD, I thought, man, pro-IAM panel is really doing their thing :p, but then it raised during review. In a field this deep, Zingas' technique does stand out as not as high a standard, though her body movement is world class.

Carreira/Ponomarenko: Much better than nationals, less stiff and more into it. His performance capabilities continue to improve; she's already there.

Lajoie/Lagha: The choreography can be a bit herky-jerky and I felt they needed more snap into those movements; it felt like they were holding back a bit. Good program concept and the technique was fine.

Chock/Bates: skating slow and small in their Hubbell/Donohue so-many-music-cuts tribute program. They handle the different eras of music well, but the program doesn't let them develop and maintain a concept, which ultimately, didn't look as impressive to me as did G/P's program.

Gilles/Poirier: Immediately noticed how much faster they were skating than Chock/Bates did. Fully realized concept with both partners engaged. Good technique. Happy judges put them first. :encore:

I’m on the last group now, did the whole performance of my favorite second favorite team you freeze zingas and Kolesnik?

This team should definitely be on the American worlds team and I’m so bummed that they not ….the only thing I wish they would do is his costume is so basic and I can’t stand the color. I wish they give him something more striking that doesn’t looks like my high school colors for the mascot.

It doesn’t stay that way, went up three points on review.

Well the freezes sure didn’t help matters, but other than CPon and Gil Poi, they’ve all skated better. I really am bewildered by Cho Bat’s reign of terror and am glad they finished second, they really looked slow today albeit better than Nats.

Can’t wait for the next gen (CPon, LaLa, Lop/Bri and others) to battle it out, hoping top 4 teams all retire right after Olys.

Thank you, yes, I saw that. Wow 74 points? I think green and parsons are going to do better than that this week. I wonder what’s going on. I really love that team.

I just got to Madison and Evan and oh boy it’s frozen again

I’m already up to this Austin Powers tragedy that I don’t like. Lots of old fogey old fashion Chubby Checker type songs this season, what is the theme for next season has it been announced?

Light dawns on marble head… ChoBat’s reworked dance of 10,000 clips has never sat right with me and I finally figured it out. Rock Around the Clock is mid-50s, The Twist is mid 60s. With all the futzing with the music cut, they ended up in the wrong damned order in the program. And yes, I’m anal about such things.

Paul Ayer had one of the more acrobatic falls I can recall in ice dance — another context and you could almost have passed that off as choreo.

That was my comment at the begining of the season
We'd jump back and forth with decades, in no particular order. It was very distracting. I think I said pick a decade and go with it.

Just finished watching the RD event. I'm sure glad I decided to get some sleep last night so I could watch the freeze-free ISU You Tube vids today when I was all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed most of the couples in the earlier groups. Both the Chinese pairs were FUN to watch.

Shame about the non-element fall for Tanaka/Nishiyama. I thought Shingo was the better dancer of the duo ... he was REALLY into the music.

Yoshida and Morita were fabulous! Great speed ... they were "flying low" out there.

What a great skate for Lim/Quan on their home turf. Ye's arms .... wow .... he brought the guns for sure. He should ALWAYS wear sleeveless shirts.

Liked Harris and Chan's ABBA medley. Holly looked FANTASTIC in that unitard .... my fave costume of the event.

Fabbri/Ayer: Sniff .... His fall absolutely buried them. Shame.

Let's be clear: The USA is a VERY strong ice-dancing nation right now!
Emilea/Vadym: Much improved, imo. Equally strong dancers. Nobody could ever say Vadym doesn't "feel it."
Christina/Anthony: Just excellent! Anthony has a really solid build ... looks very strong. Seems more confident too.
Madison/Evan: Also excellent but, whoah, some of those GOEs were through the roof. World titles tend to do that.

Lajoie/Lagha: Goodness, someone should coach the arena announcer on how to pronounce French surnames! She made Chris sound like a world-class linquist. I enjoyed their program. Zachary is such a ham! I was surprised at how close their TES were to Madison/Evan.

Piper/Paul: They skated the heck out of that program. I thought they were the best today and was glad to see them in 1st place.

Overall, a most enjoyable RD event.

Question: What is the pile of folers/files on the table in the K/C? The area is so tastefully done with the vases and plants ... love it ... and that pile of "whatever" just looks like it needs to be moved.
