Cup of Colorado is streaming competition with no audio. Here is a link to Rink 2 where Jr. and Senior Men will be competing: https://vimeo.com/event/4388535/3464885bf9

Without audio there is no introduction of the skaters so I've been following the leaderboard for Cup of Colorado: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2024/33507/index.asp

Hanns & Nedecker skating to "Fix You" is especially ironic since no one has fixed the ridiculous amount of gyno lifts in their free program.
Well, I'm a strong believer that one gyno lift is one too many, so there were way more than I ever need in any one session of skating in that program alone.

There was THEE gyno lift at the end (the one I have been complaining about for two years) plus another one near the beginning. I am taking this a personal insult because they actually added more.

89.66 in LP 135.49 overall. Grace looks much happier than she did last season, hopefully she found a way to work around her anxiety issues.

This is also a reminder to myself to put the volume down from 80% on my headphones once this event is over.

Bit of a rough start for Digerness/Sadusky to start - looked like maybe she hit a rut on the landing of the 3tw and it threw her off on their first SBS jumping pass. She did manage to land two beautiful triple throws later on in the program. They're slow and the lifts looked like work for him. Not terrible though for this early in the season.

The crowd seems to be on Team Nica in the battle of the exes showdown. Everyone really whooping and hollering for DigSad.

Music was emo girl/disaster cover of "Died in Your Arms Tonight". This streaming music ban from the USFSA may not be the worst idea ever. Nica fell on the first jump but landed the throws. Her posture and position in the throws is quite nice. 106.51 in the LP 166 total, they won

I appreciate your music ID skills. Working on uploading both HanNeu and DigSad programs to my Rumble account right now.

Potomac Open Senior Men
Joonsoo Kim won by nailing 3A for both Sp and FS!
So he will be competing not just for collegiate competitions but also to aim at the US Nats this season, I guess?
Not sure about Nats. He's pretty busy with med school. Not sure if he can take time off for Sectionals and Nats. I guess we'll see if he enters Pacifics.

Two more NQS events this week - Singles only for both competitions - no mention of any streams on either club's website.

Skate San Francisco - Aug 23-25 - https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2024/33479/index.asp - starting orders aren't up yet

Providence Open & Little New England Championships - Aug 21-25 - no results link on the NQS main page yet - if anyone has it, please add!

The NQS is taking next week off - probably because no one wants to organize a competition over Labor Day weekend, lol. At least we'll have the JGP starting next week!

Golden West Championships (All Year FSC) at Great Park Ice in Irvine is 8/31 to 09/02. While not an NQS this year, it is a very popular competition and will be bound to have some noteworthy competitors.

The traditional results page for the 2024 Providence Open NQS has been all buggy. It was late to show up, and is now showing a waiting page for the Ardmore, PA "Challenge Cup" Ice Dance NQS competition for next month.

I eventually found this page for NQS results. It's in the non-NQS "nonqual_results" format, but at least it's up:

Thanks! Looks like Sophie Joline von Felten scored 62.73 in the Jr Women's SP. She is the only ISP entrant (Zachary LoPinto was entered for Jr Men but is listed as WD).

Golden West Championships were held this weekend - it wasn't a NQS competition this year so there weren't a lot of notable skaters but there were a couple of pairs teams - Korytek/Chapman in seniors and a new team of Taisiya Shapovalova/Carter Griffin in juniors who competed just the SP.

Three NQS this week/weekend!

First to begin is the 98th Annual Middle Atlantic FS Championships, which run Sept 3-7. The results page already has the starting up - https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2024/33515/index.asp

Last is the John Smith Memorial which is also slated for Sept 6-8, Singles only. The results page is here but no starting orders yet - https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2024/33451/index.asp

Linsday scored 72.27 in the SP at Mid Atlantics just now.

Fancam vid - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfGPe4IUwKE
She's going to continue to be at the mercy of a panel that looks the other way for the rest of time apparently. The 3T still goes up and down with zero height or distance, and it's not even close to being all the way around. And the flip remains a severe outside edge.

That said, don't mind at all that she's keeping the program. Bezic should be choreographing for so many more skaters.

Mid-Atlantics Senior Women final results: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2024/33515/CAT007SEG014.html

Tech panel went to town on Lindsay. Only 1 triple called (sorta) clean, and even that was a q.

Ting didn't match her score at Potomac but it looks like she's trying to add both flip and lutz back into her FS, so that's encouraging. Good for her for landing the 3F clean for the 2nd comp in a row.

And yet she still won by 45 points. :D
Yes, and? Elite skaters don't enter summer/fall warm-up comps to collect gold medals, they want to try out their programs to prepare for their int'l events. Failing to cleanly rotate any of her triples doesn't bode well for her at Challengers and GPs. Hopefully she just had an off day and will be jumping better at her next comp.

My point was just that she's still one of the US potential highest scoring contenders even at her worst. I'm unwilling to write her off.

Usually she doesn't get every single triple called < or q by the toughest of international panels, so I have to think that this was just a really off day.
