Well i hate this as long as i have been alive which is now 63 years swimming has always kicked off the 1st week of the summer Olympics and it might be my favorite sport at the summer Olympics. The trash talking between the US and Australian teams is always good for some drama why move it back a week? Maybe i'm just old and don't like change. ?

I guess I can deal with T+F before swimming. But putting softball in Oklahoma? WTF? Are there no stadiums in San Diego?

And apparently the softball venue in Oklahoma is considered to be one of the best dedicated sports facilities in the world - basically the Hayward Field of softball.

?‍ listen, in the scale of proposed satellite venues, it's not really that much different than when soccer is spread out to multiple stadia around the host country and the early group matches have the teams scattered. The IOC has made it clear they are in a new era and signed off on these relocations to OKC.

Well, now, this is an odd week when both PC and I find ourselves in agreement with @allezfred about any topic. Different topics, sure, but yeah... No one cares about softball much less the location of its Olympic venue.

I don’t play softball, nor do I watch it. I would like to see an interview with a player about how they feel. Is the IOC providing flights to and from LAX, just in case they had hoped to catch a basketball game or whatever?

What have you read that makes you think that? Sofi Stadium is being fully utilized for both weeks and for the Opening Ceremonies. NFL pre-season doesn't start until August.

We are but the Olympics are scheduled for the last 2 weeks of July, way before the NFL will need the stadium for any pre-season games.

Yes, they're going to need SOME time, even if they can get it down to 24 hrs, to set the pools (competition and warm-up) up but I'm not seeing how that is any different going from the opening ceremonies to the pool vs going from T&F to the pool. I don't really get the rationale or logistics behind any of it.
