2024-25 Program Music and Choreographers

Beccari/Guarise

Short program: Riverdance
Free program: Romeo & Juliet

I'm good with those. I just hope it's not the Tchaikovsky R&J.

(Riverdance seems to be seeing a surge in popularity this year!)

You know there are worse things than Tchaikovsky R&J. There's the movie. With voiceovers. Making fun of Juuuullliiiiiiieeeet was great but we don't need more of that in our lives.
Well, there is the Nino Rota soundtrack, which is a beautiful score.

Honestly, I enjoy all three of the most famous versions used in skating - Tchaikovsky, Rota & 1996. There are far worse choices of music skaters can make... and, let's face it, Cats was one of those and BecGuar wound up doing okay with it.

What I want to know is who picked what? Was R&J Matteo's choice or did he want Riverdance? If he wanted Riverdance is he going to be as animated skating to that as he was skating to Cats (also his choice) this past season?

There's also the Abel Korzeniowski version of R&J which has already been used plenty, and (along the lines of Rota's version) lends itself to 'beautiful' skating even if it's really not :p

You forget the Prokofiev one!

My favorite! I would like to see a strong man’s (or Pairs’) interpretation of the Dance of the Knights.

For the music, not the plain movement:

RD: "I Just Wanna Make Love to You" by Etta James/"Long Tall Sally" by Little Richard

Sasha Trusova must have thought so too, didn't she have a program with like 5 different versions?
Nowhere did I say that any program needs to combine pieces from more than one of those, lol. Having said that, I do recall that program and I didn't find it as egregious as some other music combinations we've been subjected to over the years - probably because the scores/soundtracks themselves are quality and she wasn't using emo covers of perfectly good songs.

Hyungyeom Kim (KOR)
SP: "Amuse Bouche" by Colin Stetson
FS: Dragonheart soundtrack
Choreographers: Stephane Lamible, Yeaji Shin
I guess it's meant to be Stephane Lambiel? It's not a problem, really, just the rest of the names seem to be correct.

Thank you anyway.

Oh, whoops. I think I copy-pasted that and didn't notice the error. I'd edit it, but looks like it's too late.

I'd say this FS choice alone makes the cheapskate USFS's decision to ban videos with skater's music almost seem like genuis.

Almost.
Ain't nothin' 'bout their cheapskate decision that has prevented fancam videos from the bigger comps from appearing on social media. ;)
