2023 Eurovision Grand Final - It’s CRAZY! It’s PARTY!

Finland winning the semi on a 100% public vote is not a surprise. What is a surprise is that Ireland only got 10 points and didn't finish last. Not only that, but there were three countries below them.

Sweden has not received 12 points from the audience even once :shuffle:
And I cant see votes from the rest of the world

Rest of the World televotes:

Semi 1
12 Israel
10 Finland
8 Latvia
7 Sweden
6 Portugal
5 Czechia
4 Moldova
3 Croatia
2 Serbia
1 Malta

Semi 2
12 Albania
10 Armenia
8 Austria
7 Australia
6 Slovenia
5 Belgium
4 Lithuania
3 Iceland
2 Estonia
1 Georgia

Then where do they go? I can't see them
The website is not showing them, but if you go into the detailed results and then subtract that score from the overall ranking score you can figure out what each country got from the Rest of the World vote.

My girls, who are huge fans of Loreen, felt it was a reputation win overall. Their party ranked in order: Finland, Norway, France, Italy. Sweden didn't really hit with the Canadians in the crowd but again for my girls she is iconic.
My Canadian daughter picked Sweden above Finland but then again one of her favourites was Ireland 🇮🇪 :cold:

Sweden has not received 12 points from the audience even once :shuffle:
And yet it still managed to come second in the televote. We have previously had winners who won neither the public or jury vote - Ukraine in 2016 and the Netherlands in 2019. I think history shows that on balance the right countries won on those occasions.

Hi everyone, found this really interesting graphic depiction of the votes given and received by country/public/jury.

Although Rest of the world vote for some reason is not shown on the "points received per country" graphics you can still see them if you click on Rest of the world in the participants table.

I'm also mad at my Jury who gave Sweden 12 points as well but public gave only 1...

Jury consists of 5 or so people per country so their vote is rather personal preference

Our party was wild. Especially the poor lads who drew "pyro", "fog" and "weird choreo" were absolutely ****ed.
I won the bingo because I had 4.
The only good thing about Sweden winning this shitshow is that we'll probably get sexy Måns to host again next year.

I’m struggling not to make a joke about our dual loyalties. The US Jewish community did its job.

About our jury. I was told that in their rules the most important point was the voice. So they voted for Sweden. "Circus performances" like Finland received a minimum. There was no pressure on them, they just voted for good songs.

No more juries, please.

I actually went to the Finnshop in my city and bought karjalan piirakka and Minttu for our party..
And 2 pieces of the Käärijä cake they had.

I just love Winland.

The rule change I’d like to see is “one and done.” Once you win the contest you cannot enter again. I’m for letting entrants back in if they didn’t win. The “people” liked her but ultimately they wanted Finland. Maybe the juries should have fewer points.

So much for the :EVILLE: juries.
I’m sure it must be frustrating to hear North Americans complaining as it is not our contest but if it was an Irish entry that became the audience favorite wouldn’t you be miffed at the jury vote for Sweden?

But it's not like this is the first time it has happened. When Netherlands won a few years ago, I'm pretty sure Norway got almost no jury votes but won the televote. Ukraine definitely didn't win the televote when they won in 2016.

Tattoo wasn't my favorite entry by a mile, but both Finland's and Israel's jury gave it 12 points, and it was still second in the overall audience vote. It wasn't as if people truly thought the song was terrible and the jury held it up to win. You also have to remember Sweden was the heavy favorite to win, and of course when it comes to televotes, that might make people want to spread it out to others just because.

The problem is not that Sweden won the jury's vote. Everyone is surprised by such a large gap from Israel and Italy.
