I've just checked the hockey fixtures and if this event is the weekend of 25th-27th November then it would perhaps be Nottingham, because Sheffield play Nottingham at home that weekend?

Hersh's tweet said Finland would keep the Russia slot and UK could be taking the China slot, so the weekend would be Nov 11th-13th for either Sheffield or Nottingham.

First of all, props to BIS for stepping up if there is indeed a British GP. Also, I'm now glad I didn't yet get around to booking for IdF.

My expectation is also for Sheffield: this is BIS - it's always Sheffield. But the Sheffield Steelers have a match at the Utilta Arena that weekend and I don't know if that's something that could be rearranged.

A quick look at their website suggests that the NIC/Motorpoint Arena doesn't have anything that weekend. I think Nottingham would be great for a GP. And I'm here for the Torvill and Dean Trophy Cup - I'm sure Chris would love being at the centre of events and handing out all the medals. ;)

London would be convenient for me, but I think it's off the table. Lee Valley should be a SCOB-type venue when it reopens, but that will be a few weeks too late to host anything this year. And none of the multi-use arenas are really suitable.

Oops, meant to edit and ended up double posting: Maybe a Nottingham Panters home game too that weekend. So perhaps somewhere with less of a skating tradition.

I want the event to be styled as, the Torvill and Dean Trophy Cup
I am totally in favour of this, but husband just suggested that as the Cup of China was normally sponsored by Audi that a British GP should also have a car sponsorship so maybe Jaguar Cup of Britain.

I want the British GP to be sponsored by Terry's Chocolate Orange, and for Dawn French to be the official event sponsor's spokesperson.

Dawn French?? I'm going! Anything for the Vicar!

Doing a bit of research tonight - looks like all of the EIHL teams have at least one home game between Nov 11th-13th except Belfast. And, a quick look at the SSE Arena Belfast website doesn't indicate there is anything booked there that weekend yet. The arena in Newcastle also looks to be open that weekend and seems to like a reasonable possibility. My money is on one of those two, unless they are willing to go with a much smaller arena.

Belfast would be extremely convenient for me, but unfortunately on this occasion it’s not in England. ;)

Parochial question: Are there criteria skaters have to meet to be eligible for host spots?
