Does anyone know where JGP competitor Alec Guinzbourg is? Is he injured?

I‘m streaming all 3 rinks on different devices which means 3 streams of horrific music of dubious choice and bad cuts. Including what the audio guys play while waiting for scores.

He placed 5th of 6 Junior men at the Skate Ontario Sectional Championships (scores seem to indicate he might have been injured there?):
Alec Guinzbourg Richmond Training Centre 49.15 (4) 84.46 (5) 133.61

Thanks, I guess he must still be injured, as Ontario, like Quebec, has more places than other sections get so that placement would have qualified him to Challenge.

I really just don't think this Latin FD works at all for Galiyanova & Lochhead. If anything, the movement looks less sharp & less committed than it did at the beginning of the season. This has to be a disappointing spot for them to skate from at the moment (as their RD is charming, IMO), but really the mature FD from last season worked so much better for them than this one. Into the lead. FD: 86.14, Total 144.60

Li & Richmond. La Vie en Rose. She has nice stretch, and he rotates with her well during the lifts. The steps are all a bit off & out of sync. FD: 92.49, Total 151.14
Into the lead. (That's an upset there).

McIsaac & Circelli. These two always look stronger to me in the free dances, where they use long sweeping strokes and smoother movement. True again today, though she stepped out of the first set of twizzles which set them back in building momentum off the top. FD: 88.84, Total 145.26
Into 2nd.

Lim/Quan: I don't recall noticing these two before they unexpectedly made the final group here. I'm guessing they weren't expecting to either. The Nutcracker is a bit generic after doing The Addams Family in the RD. They have a nice presence. Hannah goes down on a turn, so they're going to drop a few ordinals, unfortunately.

Bronsard & Bouaraguia. I missed the beginning. Looked clean from what I saw. Think the edges could be stronger, but obviously a better performance than yesterday. She looked happy. FD: 96.12, Total: 156.67
Into the lead.

Lim & Quan. They have a nice quality together. Think it had to be a shock to them to make the final flight, and probably a lot of pressure to the live up to. He was off on a one foot section of the footwork, and then she fell shortly afterward.
FD: 76.53, Total 136.51
Into 6th.

D'Alessandro/Waddell: In the summer I hope they really focus on making Natalie more confident on twizzles, but otherwise, these two look very good.

The judges clearly see these two as #1 in the country.

D'Alessandro & Waddell. That was nice today. Looked like they moved out well, and definitely the best I have seen them skate this FD this season. Performed with confidence. The program loses some of its flow toward the end due to the construction, but well skated.
FD: 104.53, Total: 174.32
Into the lead.

Bashynska & Beaumont. Also very well skated. Did what they can do today. I like the smoothness of their entrance & exit into the sliding choreo element. (At least I think it is their sliding choreo element? Then she slides again later?) FD: 101.74, Total: 166.73
Into 2nd. (Have made their argument for Junior Worlds if they finish top 3 at Nationals).

Makita & Gunara. What a well skated set of free dances today! These two are the most musical team to me. They have that off-beat feel required for the blues. Looked like she may have had a slight wobble in the second twizzle set, and my guess is that they are not the fastest team in this flight; but they stayed in the performance throughout, and everything smooth from one element to the next. Really a well fought battle in the FDs today. FD: 93.61, Total: 159.53
Into 3rd.

Hmm, those scores are what placed Nguyen / Kolesnik #1 in the JGP---and this is only Challenge. No doubt Nationals scores will be even higher....yet D/W don't have the grace and charisma of N/K

All four Canadian junior dance teams at the top, I think, have made their argument for Junior Worlds. Should be able to control their own destiny if they finish top 3 at Nationals.

National scores are national scores. The best way to get a higher score at the national level is to have your competition later in the calendar year. It doesn't matter. It's only significant how the teams actually in the event scored against each other. (And even then, junior results in dance at SC Challenge often wind up quite differently from Junior Nationals).
