2019 Junior Worlds Mens SP & FS

He really should try his luck with skating for Winland.
Without knowing more about his family than what was published on Golden Skate and without having looked at the citizenship requirements involved, I would guess that if he wants to switch countries, it would be to his mother's native country of Thailand, where he might even already have citizenship or be able to obtain it fairly easily.

Pulkinen's father's family probably hasn't lived in Finland for a few generations.

Grassl got 3 underrotations
Yikes, how would he have placed if those were clean? I'm really happy for his bronze. That kid has guts and posture! not the most common combination!

Oh, and that last spin of his, the pancake with the foot higher than the knee, was insane. He could sprain his knee with that one! But I guess you could say that about a lot of figure skating elements.

Tomoki is just a little fired up and does Russian splits while being introduced for the medal ceremony and then leaps onto the podium.

But ooops, he forgot to congratulate Grassl and Savosin.
No big deal.. he is all chocked up..

Savosin is happy with his Silver. if a russian boy was to medal at this event, of these three i was hopping it would be Savosin ...:respec:

Camden just doesn't have the competitive nerves to be reliable. He'll might do an Abbott and be capable of one amazing, magical competition once every two years, but that's it. I some times wonder if his looks help him get better scores and fans than his actual skating warrants even if he does skate sensitively with the music at times.

Interesting. Obviously looks plays a big part in the sport, and I’m just as guilty as anyone else of this.

However I don’t think I support Camden just because he’s good looking (and to be honest I find him striking but necessarily that attractive), but it’s his musicality and commitment to the performance—I find him always 100% invested that I find very appealing. It’s all very accessible.

I think “skating sensitively with the music at times” is a huge understatement of his abilities, but it’s figure skating and personal preferences are wildly different. :)

Tammy and Tom together makes me imagine a new generation of either either very stiff, musically disinclined and inconsistent skaters who fall on content we think they have and may have until competition starts, or skaters who have the competitive nerves and nature to hit seemingly landed jumps on one-foot but are undone but strange jump hooks on their landings and other technique deficiencies which over time will make them more inconsistent because they develop a mental block and inferiority complex and dread coming to the KnC. Or worse...some strange combination of both. At least it seems Vincent is working to undo the curse slowly and to not develop that sort of complex to affect his ability to at least land his technically ambitious content on one foot consistently.

What good would that do. He will still have the same issues.
Wonderful as his skating may be when he's on, Pulkinen is going to have difficulty making the U.S. World and Olympic Teams until he gets better at controlling his nerves.

What a ridiculous thing to say. I don't find him remotely attractive (not to mention I think it's creepy to think about that with junior skaters, even the ones that are over 18) and wouldn't even consider myself a particular fan of his skating, but one thing that was clear is that he had by far the fastest skating, deepest edges, best knee bend, and smoothest stroking in the field at junior worlds. Throw in that he is a musical skater on top of that (although frankly I think his long program in particular doesn't necessarily make best use of his skills) and of course he is going to get the best PCS.

If you are a Pulkinen fan, just go ahead and give it up now. You know what's coming. Sigh.

He actually bombed less than I expected, but yeah, still sad. Looking at the PCS the judges really wanted to give it to him. He’s such a good skater he’s just having major focus/pressure/technique issues right now for whatever reason

And it shouldn't have been close on this mark. Judges :lynch:

I’m my opinion Danielian deserved the bronze because his PCS should have been at least 4 points higher than Grassl yet the judges separated them by 0.1 :shuffle:

On the other hand it’s starting to look like Italy and/or France could contend for team medals at the next Olympics which is exciting.
