I love Te amo! I was listening to it in the car earlier today! But I’m a sucker for Italian soft rock, and not many have played more in my car than Eros Ramazotti

But seriously...an opera version??? Why??? The whole point is the unpolished, suffering guy singing. I already want to die :yikes:

No, that is no Italian soft rock but Italian pop at its lowest (I'm Italian). Anyway, this opera cover may be even worse than the original. I know Russians tend to have a fascination with Italian bad music but why, Charlie?

I agree it’s no masterpiece, but I can’t help but really like it

If this is the lowest though, the Italian standard is still pretty high

Here is a Bezic program done to Sabrina 20 years ago. I liked the music cuts at that time and still do. Too bad the choreo was wasted on a Canadian lady before landing jumps in this country was a thing.

All their efforts went into the Bolero SP and they sorta said oh yeah, let's use this Te Amo for the LP?

Everyone always blamed Nina Mozer for T/M's programs...now it's the fault of the Russian Federation? :rofl:

The only common denominator, regardless of which coach or choreographer they work with, has always been T/M themselves. While I don't love most of their choices, I don't think their taste is significantly worse than a lot of other skaters. They could be skating to one of those cheesy cover songs that have become so common recently...that's a far worse offense in my book. I think people just like to use T/M as a punching bag for some strange reason.

The original is one of my favorite songs, and I was ready to brace myself for yet another season of me loving their programs and blocking all the negativity, but now I'll be disappointed if it's an opera version!

Yes, she edited her IG program announcement to say that they were turning the ex into a FS. Although the New Moon piece wasn't used in the ex (in the post she refers to only the original pieces), so they've clearly changed it up a little. https://www.instagram.com/p/BxdCwtlIQQa/

Man, I really hate to say it but Zagitova’s programs are both misses for me at this point- especially her free skate. We’ve seen some brilliant interpretations of these warhorses but she does absolutely nothing except the occasional arm movement and back and forth skating to frontload (!!!) the program. None of the skating matches the music at all except, finally, for the spiral halfway through but she was even ahead in this instance. So disappointing and I don’t know why her camp can give other ladies programs that actually work with plenty of choreography to follow the music.

Tuktamysheva looks great- two Axels already. I liked the program and it listened to the music 100% more than Zagitovas. What she’s still lacking is the difficult transitional work directly into and out of the jumps, but I did love the unique choreography into her second Lutz in the free skate.

Medvedeva looks to have promise again this year. I think last season was a huge misstep with all of her programs and her free skate was a total snooze, but this reminds me of more 2018 and before Evgenia.

All three junior turned senior ladies are looking impressive. Trusova really softened up a bit and isn’t as frantic, and of course Kostornaia is the one to really watch as she just has IT. She takes her choreography and gives it that little extra something because she really obviously feels the music.

I positively hate all the transitions that Eteri has her girls do directly after they land their jumps. Yes they are difficult but they distract from the overall quality of the jumps. I want to see clean edge landing, body control and flow. If I were a judge, I would be much more inclined to give a high GOE to Kostornaia's 2axel than anything else.

Alina's short is a mess - would fit Elizaveta much better. I like her "look" while skating to it but the program itself is disappointing. Given the intensity of the music in the free, the program wasn't building to anything and she wasn't really going anywhere with it. Very disappointed. She appears to have totally missed the timing of the music as well. I do really appreciate a moment in her free where she held a spiral, but not so much the ina bauer afterwards. I am glad though that her jumps and spins are so sharp.

Elizaveta was on fire! Not a fan of the short. Boring and not her. The free obviously fit her much better and I love it for her. Agree with Tony on the lack of transitions but I love the command she has. Hit all 3 3axels here too! Was her short combo supposed to be 3flip3toe? Did I miss a 3sal somewhere in the free?

Evgenia's short had promise but I do feel like she should add the skid spiral back to it. Geisha program looks fine for now but she needs to sell it. Looked way too nervous / focused to project. I don't know if her lutz is good / improved enough to be repeated in the free. Edge still looks questionable.

Stanislava's Moulin Rouge makes my ear bleed. The edits were messy and the music was building, and building, and building.. to nothing.

Sofia's programs are nice and she sells them well, but how old is she again? Anyways couldn't have been more inappropriate than skating to Burlesque last season. Her jumps seem bigger.

Anna is just pretty pretty. I enjoy the balletic lines but am not moved / touched by her skating. Forget about the on-ice costume change - but is it a good idea to mash those two pieces of music together? Very odd. Plus she in no way had the intensity of the Firebird.

Alekandra is impressive and not just the jumps. Those programs work for her and she is much less hectic than before. Has a much more senior presence this season.

Love Alena. I think her skating deserves more than the music / program that was given to her. Still lovely. My only worry is her technical content is going to be way behind without quads and 3axels.

It was very exciting seeing the new programs.
I’m trying so hard to like Evgenia’s program, I want her to find peace and happiness, but Satoko Miyahara’ s Memoirs of a Geisha was so interesting, masterful, and authentic. This sport can really tear one apart non?

I disagree re Anna. She had great musicality and her movements were matching the Firebird music... I also would disagree that the 2 pieces of music in her LP didn't work together

It was probably my favorite ladies long of the event...she has very good programs this year, now she just needs to nail that quad lutz!

I think they need to revise the GOE bullet points. Instead of a long controlled glide out of a jump being a bullet point for a + 1, the absence of it should be a bullet point for a - 1.
