Per Gabrielle, she's now resumed training after tearing two ankle ligaments.

Okay, can this be the last thing that goes wrong for her?

Even with a poor free skate, Daleman's total score at SCI was about 8 points lower than Bausback's Warsaw score about about 4 points behind Schumacher's. So she won't even have to skate her best to finish top 2. Skate Canada hasn't published the selection criteria yet for worlds.

➢ Placement at the 2020 Canadian Championships
➢ Placement at the 2020 ISU Four Continents Championships (if required)
➢ Qualifying for the 2019/20 ISU Grand Prix Final
➢ Results and scores from the 2018-2019 and / or the 2019-2020 ISU Grand Prix Series, Senior International events and / or ISU Grand Prix Final.
➢ Top 10 placement at the 2019 ISU World Championships
➢ Top 10 placement at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in the specific discipline
➢ Demonstration of consistent short and free skate scores for a potential world placement in the top three flights.

If Gabby does not finish top 2 at Canadians, it seems likely she will have to go to 4CC since:

She did not qualify for the GPF
Her results and scores at Finlandia (13th, 138.84) and SC (10th, 164.34) do not demonstrate "consistent short and free skate scores"
She placed 11th, not 10th at the 2019 World Championship
She placed 15th, not 10th at the 2018 Olympic Games

The criteria basically let Skate Canada do whatever they want. They'll want to send Daleman, so she wouldn't have to go to Four Continents. Whether going to 4CC would be a good idea for her would depend a lot on her physical conditioning.

Obviously not about the current competitive field, but there's a new IFS article about Joannie Rochette's impending graduation from medical school where she also talks about her career. It's interesting to hear her talk about the post-Vancouver period where she says she had it in mind to keep competing a few more years, but never quite made the leap back.

Another proof that transitioning from competitive to regular life happens with every skater and is difficult for all, regardless of age, country, coach, how many years a skater stayed in the field... Hope she goes to a good University and receives an education that will allow her an interesting and well paid profession.

Man, Katherine Karon's mother looks young enough to be a novice skater to me. I really am getting old.

Yes, she did.

It sounds like it's not a debilitating problem for her right now, just something she has to manage.

Catherine Carle finished 12th in the short program at YOG today. Unfortunately she popped her loop into a single, a real shame after skating well in the short much of the season. Still her score of 49.57 is not bad considering (it's higher than what Orzel and Gran got on the JGP for example). I think she could be in the mix for junior worlds depending on how her free skate goes and how the other eligible skaters do at nationals.

The ladies are in a process of rebuilding. Here's hoping the event feels more like 2015 than 1996.

Carle actually moved up a spot at YOG after the free. She rotated 7 triples, but fell on her two hardest ones (lutz and flip), and she singled her axel. Her other triples were good. Considering she had zero JGP experience, I think she had a good showing.

ETA that the top 4 Novice women showed ambitious content in their short programs today:
