Well, it's $960 USD, not that it makes that any better.
True, I forgot to specify that the starting point of $1250 was in Canadian dollars.

Can someone, please if possible, explain to me, since i have not bought skating dresses in 20+ years, how is Daleman's dress better than these dresses in terms of work, design, and other elements? What makes the price difference?

Wow. Those are SO MUCH NICER!!! I'd choose those over any in Gabby's line (the cheapest of which starts at $750 CAD). And the dresses also add $40 shipping (from my look - might be different in USD).

In any case, HUGELY overpriced. It seems like everything in the online stor is extremely expensive - her name isn't adding much more to the price. For example, this dress (possibly one of the nicest in the whole site) starts at $880 CAD. The illusion netting is a better colour on the model, but even the seaming of it around the collar is so thick that it completely ruins the illusion. For that price, they should be able to make the edges so it blends more seamlessly into the bare part. (Compare it to this example on Gabby, or this example on Mao Asada. Even Cynthia Phaneuf seems to be saying 'it isn't that hard')

I love the aria, but 1. when it's sung by opera singers and 2. not really for skating, especially when its butchered with all of those cuts. I prefer the Bacchanale for skating.
I love the aria, but it is actually a duet towards the end, and Gabi may not want a male voice in her programme.

Agreed but at least it’s an improvement vocally on the Carmen she chose. Okay that’s not saying much, I admit it. Seriously though, I like this for Gabby. I love the Bacchanale.

ETA Tinami, Im sure she or her choreographer could easily have found the Dalila aria by a good mezzo without the tenor.

That version of Carmen is one of the most horrendous things I've ever heard. Can't believe she's not only keeping it, but also chose a botched version of another famous aria for the LP! :wall:

Slight correction: She’s skating to two pieces from Samson et Dalila by Saint Saens. “Mon coeur s’ouvre a ta voix” is Dalila’s second act aria. The rest is the Danse Bacchanale in the last act.

As much as I appreciate the effort to provide detail, once I read 'Samson et Dalila', the rest of the info sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher in my head. #checkedout

Fortunately, the opera buffs here will know what I mean. 😉

My joke was intended to mean that I was do disenchanted with her music choice, the rest of the commentary was irrelevant....and would have felt that way even as an opera buff

😊 sorry I didn’t pick up on that, but it’s been a long, long day! In any case, I like this program and I like her a lot - but I looooooathe the SP music.

Tango Warhorse Count:

Cell Block Tango-3
Libertango-4
Oblivion-3
Maria de Buenos Aires-2
Adios Nonino-3
Tango de Roxanne-1

Added Fournier-Beaudry & Sorensen’s and Sophia Schaller’s Adios Nonino (I'm basing identifications for these two on posters from GS), Shanaeva & Naryzhnyy’s Maria de Buenos Aires, DelCamp & Gart’s Libertango (they have it combined with other music), Torgashev’s Tango de Roxanne, and Egor Rukin’s Oblivion.

Note how I am politely not counting up the Carmens even though Carmen is being used by dance teams for the RD this season as I do not normally file Carmen under my personal "tango warhorse" list, but rather under my generic "warhorse" list or my "flamenco warhorse" list.

Surely you can find more Tango de Roxanne's than that.

Did you count Grassl's?

That angers me. SOS d'un terrien en détresse is basically FROM Starmania, an opera rock, who would make you think the authors knew Trump would win an election.
How could it be a tribute to another skater when it's basically a song from Starmania, who happens to be a french / canadian collaboration?

In the video, they state it’s because Denis showed them the music, so they associate it with him.

Denis was the one who suggested them to use this piece. It’s also the music Denis himself used as his last FP. I think it’s very appropriate for them to use this as a tribute to him.
