2017-2018 Program Music and Choreographers

An official Announcement

Jason Brown
SP: Room Where It Happens from Hamilton
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMHiZzmpiK0&feature=youtu.be

Not a fan of the song. I'm also someone you can count on to clear his throat and talk about the Quad's that Jason is missing. This YouTube video... His excitement, the clip from what sounds like the most supportive and awesome family. GO JASON!!!! I don't know if I know anyone more excited about life. That video made me glad that I stuck to my meal plan today and is making me log off and go to the gym.

Oh... and i'm clearly hallucinating because i KNOW I didn't see him do a Split jump where he stayed in the air for a hour and a half flying across the ice into what must be Triple Axel... like... no way... badass

I hope she will get rid of that ending pose as it's from Mao.
And I hope she should change the dress because it looks identical to Yuna Kim's Turandot.

I forgot to respond to this, (and I love Marin, Mao, Yuna) but if we're going to play the "she stole my ending pose!" game, you are clearly forgetting that (the great) Michelle Kwan did this ending pose first at the end of her "Red Violin" LP in 2000. :p.

Maybe Michelle also borrowed it from someone, and this ending pose is just meant to be!! :cheer: :glamor:

and at least it's a beautiful dress that she copied, it could've been an ugly one! :drama:

I love Misha Ge.
But I wonder if doing it for his direct competition is wise.
Ge got Russian and French GP, Voronov is going to Japan and the USA. Ge is competing at 4CC and Voronov will probably not even make it to the Euros. The only way they are a direct competition is if Ge decides to come to a competition into MiddleOfNowhereInsk that Voronov will probably be participating...
Shouldn't he solely focus on his own skating?
I think he is focusing on his current and future career. Which, again, imho, is a smart move.

I agree. Misha already has the Olympic ticket. My understanding is that if he does not use it, there is no one else from his country who can use it.

Ross Miner SP: 'Downtown' by Macklemore

Ross Miner's new SP is "Downtown" by Macklemore, according to this article by Christie Sausa on his guest appearance at the first Lake Placid Saturday Night Ice Show of the summer, July 8, in Lake Placid, NY: http://www.lakeplacidnews.com/page/content.detail/id/527106/Miner-entertains-the-crowd.html

For those who want to take a look at Ross's new SP, here is my fancam of it from Colonial Open in May:

Come join the fun on #TeamDaleman!

I am reserving judgement on Osmond's choices until I see the programs, but I still feel like her best programs were the ones she had in 2013-2014, so charismatic! Like you, I felt like her programs last season were too generic. Embrace your inner Bobek!
Well, the cobra boobs were kinda voidy.

Back in May, Pogrebinsky/Benoit wrote on Instagram (linked above) that their free dance "is comprised of an existing contemporary rock blues along with an original composition created just for us" and now they've shared a short clip (sounds like Annie Lennox's "I Put A Spell On You"): https://www.instagram.com/p/BWeg6hih8iD/?taken-by=pogrebinsky_benoit
It sure does. I love this team but it's hard to get excited about another program to that song. I'd rather listen to Carmen or Moonlight Sonata!

Oh Dear God... the one I hear on the radio...Please John, noooooooooooooooooo

Well, the brilliance of last season in the Pairs discipline is that the most memorable LP's all used evocative vocals. S/H, S/M, and J/C all had FS's set to vocals that mean something emotionally to swaths of the public. And the version of the songs that S/H and J/C chose were widely praised as perfectly suitable for the pair in that season.

James/Cipres even went viral from their year-end WTT FS just based on how many people connected with a very intense version of "Sound of Silence" fleshed-out on ice. The people who shared the video without any background in figure skating kept on talking about how they embodied the music.

I have no doubt that *if* they are indeed using "Say Something" for the Olympic Season, the program itself will be a crowd favorite with all the surging cheers during the performance itself. Pick an intriguing arrangement of a popular song and you will get all sorts of audience reaction when you are skating clean.

They could be skating to Miley Cyrus or Clay Aiken, if they continue to be :smokin: it doesn't really matter what they're skating to. They'll make it work. They are so freakin' hot. :D
