2016 Academy Awards (Oscars) - Ceremony & Red Carpet

I thought the "Brooklyn" book was so much better than the screenplay, so I don't even understand why it was nominated for best adaptation.

I didn't read "The Big Short," so I don't know how good the adaptation was, but I did think that the screenwriters did a great job of making such a dry subject entertaining and comprehensible.

Does Trump qualify as a "weirdo billionaire" if he's funding his own campaign?

The Big Short writer told Nili that he loves her, in Hebrew. The other one wants us to vote for Bernie.

I think Chris handled that as well as anyone in his position could have.

He was funny and he got a message across while looking cool doing it (and poking fun at his 'nemesis,' Kevin Hart ). Chris walked a fine line with great style and panache, as lots of black professionals have to do in all walks of life.

Great picks for the first two awards. Hope winning best original screenplay bodes well for Spotlight maybe winning best picture!

Me either! Nothing about the dress or her hair looks attractive. Am also not liking Kate Winslet's either - looks like a trash bag.
Charlize's dress did no favors to her sagging breasts. I hope sometime soon we return to the days of a supporting role for our best features. Kate's dress reminded me of an ugly bridesmaid's dress

My younger brother thought The Big Short was the best movie, and he saw ALL the nominees. But to be fair, he's a lawyer who specializes in finance/contract law so he might be a wee bit biased.

Well since it wasn't nominated there was no chance of it winning. ;)

It will soon win some of the technical awards though.

Yeah, I realized that after they finished listing them. I guess I was thinking it was nominated because Charlize was up there and reminded me of how little dialogue she had in that movie.
