ISU Provisional Allotments for 2024-2028

Doing a bit of nosing around the Inside ISU website today and found this form for feds to complete if they're interested in hosting any ISU Championships.

What caught my eye was the Combined World Championships which appears to be something the ISU does not want to hold every season but rather once every four years at the midway point of the Olympic cycle - so 2028 and then not again until 2032. I rather like this direction because it gives all of the skating sports a chance to come together, especially ahead of the biennial ISU Congress, and turn it into a skating sports festival. Plus, it won't shut most feds out of hosting an ISU Championships entirely since the other three years of any Olympic cycle will still have the separate WCs.

An intrepid FS fan on X discovered the following document on the Finnish fed's website -

It shows the GPs in the following order:

Oct 24-25 - Skate America
Oct 31-Nov 1 - Skate Canada
Nov 7-8 - Cup of China
Nov 13-15 - Grand Prix de France
Nov 21-22 - GP Helsinki
Nov 27-29 - NHK Trophy

Dec 12-14 - GPF (hosted by China)
something must have changed as the French federation changed the dates yesterday in their announcement pointing out that the Grand Prix de France will be on 𝟮𝟯 to 𝟮𝟱 October 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

That's the same post as from last week, which has already been referenced.

Hopefully they've asked have some governing bodies ready to apply, because it seems like very few places would have the possibility of hosting. Not a fan - I'm very unlikely to attend short or long track speed skating. I might check out a session of synchro, but that's it.

ISU website has dates for GPS now (scroll down):

Order is:

GPdF - Angers FRA
SCI - Kelowna BC, CAN
CoC - TBA
SkAm - Everett WA, USA
Finlandia - Helsinki FIN
NHK - Tokyo JPN
GPF - Chongqing (nice to have confirmation of the location, which has been rumored for awhile)

Still no location or date for 4CCs listed.

Damn I was hoping NHK would be on the first weekend of November because of my trip to Japan. Oh well more time to do other things like buy fabric.

I'd really like to know where 4CC will be. Probably not China, since they have GPF as well as CoC.

Cup of China desperately needs to be in Vancouver, B.C. It will be logistically easier for all concerned than anywhere in China.
Hah!

Well, hopefully they make it easy on travelers and put it in Beijing or Shanghai. I know they do a great job organizing events in Chongqing but it is more of a slog to get to from outside of Asia, so easier for GPF/4CCs/Worlds than a GP.

And the Finnish fed has confirmed Finlandia Trophy as the 5th GP for next season!

Best CoC location ever, Cantonese food, all the tech wonders, and 15 minutes on a high-speed train to Hong Kong
I wonder if the CFSA would try to convince the other GP host feds to allow them to invite 1-2 Hong Kong skaters as "host" spots.

The announcement specifically states that the 2027 4CC location will be announced on May 20, 2026 and it also has "TBC" rather than "TBD" - this leads me to believe a host has been selected but they're just getting the i's dotted and t's crossed.

I know the USFS Governing Council is in early May, but the USFS has scheduled a new Impact Summit that runs May 20-23 in Colorado Sprkngs and the Toast to Milan reception is May 20.

Coincidence or all signs pointing to the USFS stepping up to host 2027 4CCs?

2026 USFS Governing Council is scheduled for May 22 and 23 in Colorado Springs. It is part of Impact Summit.

I have been wondering about the possibility of USFS hosting 2027 Four Continents.
Only my speculation, but perhaps related would be the unusually early dates for 2027 U.S. Nats?? Which would give USFS a little more time to catch its breath than in its past years of hosting Four Continents.
