Stars on Ice Spring 2026 Tour - U.S. and Canada

Fan video of Alysa’s Stateside Solo:

Stifel Stars on Ice has announced that U.S. Olympic Team members Emily Chan & Spencer Howe will no longer appear in the 2026 Stifel Stars on Ice tour due to scheduling conflicts.
I had wondered how Spencer was getting so much time off from the army. Maybe that was the issue.

I feel bad for Chan and Howe, but I'm really happy for CPom that they now get to do the entire tour, which means doing the group numbers. Anthony looks so happy in that clip, and Christina has seemed like she's been having a lot of fun rehearsing.

Well, he's not working "full time" for the Army as a member of WCAP. Once through basic training, the time commitment is similar to being in the Reserves or the National Guard - one weekend a month. But it could have definitely been a problem if doing the tour meant he'd miss two months in a row on top of likely missing February as well since the entire US team was in Milano for 3+ weeks.

My work BFF is high ranking in the Army. Those with part time commitments (guard, reserves, or special groups) can miss 6 of the 12 required weekends with permission from their command. If they have conflicts with their unit rotations, they can request assignment to another unit. It’s pretty flexible with the exception of the two week rotation. That has to be done, but it can be done with another unit. But that’s for the general population. I don’t know if being in a specialized role like chaplain is more restrictive.

He isn't a Chaplain yet. He's in motorized transport. He's studying to become a Chaplain.

I’ve seen a couple of contracts for lower ranked skaters - it’s only roughly $500/show.
For real? Is that for a single skater or pair/team? Disappointing either way. I remember a few years ago that Patrick Chan mentioned getting 1000/show, and he has a couple of Olympic medals. He said it wasn't worth being away from his home/ family.

I hope when they see these tribute videos many decades from now they will be filled with joyful memories:

Given that in non-Olympic years attendance has been really low I’m not surprised. The hungry skaters and teams will take it to increase their profile and help pay their skating costs. Still, seeing Stubhub trying to resell US SOI tix for $1000 makes it really irritating.

Single skaters.

The skaters got the Orland Magic's jersey, but why the number is 26?
Doesn't it belong to Reece Beekman?

Missing are the skaters who will only do some shows across the country.

I'm surprised that Gogo is only doing the Ontario shows and LaLa aren't doing all of the shows. Sadovsky is doing all the shows. Maybe SOI made the hiring decisions last year or I just don't realize who is popular in Canada. Or, scheduling conflicts.

Gogolev has college exams coming up, so he didn't have the availability to do the entire tour.

Crazy sales across the board for the shows. The arena was like 12-13K maximum capacity and it looked nearly if not sold out. Watching the viral TikToks, it seems that's par for the course for every other showing beforehand. This is my first year for Stars on Ice, have sales always been this crazy? They're practically going to go on a nearly sold-out arena tour 🤣

Are you talking about US SOI or CAN SOI?

US SOI has definitely had good crowds and it's a massive increase in attendance from at least the last decade if not longer.

Hertz Arena in Estero/Fort Myers has a capacity of about 7100 and looked pretty well filled to the rafters.
Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale (home of the FL Panthers) has a capacity of just over 19k for hockey and while it wasn't sold out, ticket sales were strong enough to have filled the lower two bowls and about 1/3 of the upper bowl from the videos I saw online.
Kia Center in Orlando (home of the Orlando Magic) has a capacity of just over 17k for hockey and it wasn't quite as full as Amerant Bank Arena the night before, but there were still fans sitting in some sections of the upper bowl.
Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville SC has a hockey capacity of 14k and from the videos tonight it looked like only the ends of the upper bowl weren't filled.

So, right now, they're easily performing for 12-15k depending on the size of the arena.

First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro NC has the largest capacity of the venues so far, coming in at 22k, and based on what's showing as available on Ticketmaster, it won't be anywhere close to sold out, but it's still going to have a sizable crowd.

Going through the rest of the arenas -
Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza (Wilkes-Barre PA) - 8300
Agannis Arena (Boston) - 6200
MVP Arena (Albany NY) - 14k
MassMutual Center (Springfield MA) - 6800
Amica Mutual Pavilion (Providence) - 11k
Prudential Center (Newark - home of the NJ Devils) - 16,500
Giant Center (Hershey) - 10,500
UBS Arena (Elmont NY - home of the NY Islanders) - 17k
Blue Cross Arena (Rochester NY) - 10,700
Enterprise Center (St Louis - home of the St Louis Blues & host for Nats this year) - 18k
Allstate Arena (Rosemont IL) - 16,700
Grand Casino Arena (St Paul MN - home of the MN Wild) - 18k
Blue FCU Arena (Loveland CO) - 5100
Maverik Center (West Valley City UT - host for 2027 Nats) - 10k
Honda Center (Anaheim - home of the Anaheim Ducks) - 17k
SAP Center (San Jose - home of the SJ Sharks) - 17,400
Numerica Veterans Arena (Spokane) - 10,300
Town Toyota Center (Wenatchee WA) - 4300
Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle - home of the Seattle Kraken) - 17k
Veterans Memorial Coliseum (Portland) - 10k
Mullett Arena (Tempe AZ) - 5k
Credit Union of TX Event Center 2 shows (Allen TX - host for SkAm 2023 & 2024) - 6300
Landers Center (Southaven MS) - 8500

It will be interesting to see how well the tickets sell as the tour progresses but from what I've seen, from the first four shows, the crowds are large and enthusiastic.

The comments about crowd size have to be from the USA as there have been no Canadian shows yet :)

Looking at ticketmaster, the Canadian tour sales are bleak in most cities. Probably more will be sold as it gets closer to, but it’s not going to be anywhere approaching the strong turn out in the USA this year.

But that’s what having champions will do. The USA has an abundance of people who are winning things right now, and there is also the boost of having the crown jewel of an American women’s OGM. It’s actually pretty exciting to see the turn out for these shows. It wasn’t that long ago that SOI in the USA was on the brink of dying out. It must be a thrill for the skaters as well to be able to skate in front of such big crowds at home.

As an aside, I think having the three women do that Golden number was also very smart. I know they were getting dragged after the first show for the choreo being messy, but the girlies have gotten their shit together remarkably fast and the number looks very cool now. It’s well choreographed and is going to go over well in person and online. Good marketing to put your three leading ladies front and centre like that.

In Canada, the lack of “stars” is hurting things I think. 2018 got sell outs pretty much across the country on the strength of V/M’s popularity. They didn’t return to SOI after that and ticket sales went promptly back down. 2023 sold relatively well as Kurt Browning’s farewell, but since then things have been pretty slow for ticket sales.

I am very interested to see how next year plays out in the USA. There could legitimately be enough interest with a few key players signed on to do some shows in the fall and winter like they used to back in the day. Lots of decisions I’m sure to be made on who wants to keep competing and who has some financial opportunities in a professional setting if they wish to do it.
