Unfortunately, last weekend there were shootings and murders of some Minnesota state lawmakers. Vance Boetler has been arrested and charged. He is expected to arraigned in federal court today for the federal charges.

The initial state complaint was made for second degree murder because it made it quicker to get a warrant. In Minnesota, warrants for first degree murder require a grand jury, which takes more time. I think the Hennepin County DAs office will seek upgraded charges to first degree murder.
The federal charges are for the actions relating to interstate & internet actions, which are the stalking, murder, and firearms charges. I’m not sure why the other shooting isn’t included.
I would be surprised if federal prosecutors don’t seek the death penalty.
