News and updates à la Française, part quatre

This is a lot of speculation before we've seen anything from F-B/C.

And I'll address the elephant in the room: we don't know how people (=judges) will respond to Laurence given her association with Sorensen.
I don't think they'll care. In the Instagram picture accompanying the announcement, she just looked so ill-at-ease while he eye-f*cked the camera. I'm hoping this is something she wants. To me, there just wasn't any happiness in the picture.

I’ll fight anyone who thinks CarPon are a better team than Lop/Bri but under these scenarios it’s all politics anyway.
I mean, CarPon did beat them at Worlds last year and in 2023 as well... But, sure, LopBri are the better team if you say so.

By .04 points? Bwahaha. I’d like to make a bet on this year’s results but with the politiks changing so drastically, sadly no.

I'm just saying that CarPon as the US #3 beat them by 2 places and 6.5 points in 2023 when they were the clear FRA #1; and CarPon still beat them last year. It was incredibly close between 6th through 9th (1.07 points) and the placements could have gone any which way - LopBri did well to close that gap (and both also bridged the gap with ReedAmbru).

Your position that LopBri are better than CarPon is not, though, borne out by the results at the last two Worlds - and I contend that the only reason they may have beaten CarPon this year would have been because of politiks pushing them higher than their fall scores would indicate. As it is, with the new FBCiz partnership & the clear message from the FFSG that THIS is our #1 team and the rest of the teams really have no ability to build our future, I expect LopBri to wind up 7th or 8th.

That is not surprising at all since they had a lot of mistakes in their performances this year. Maybe they can find partners with whom they can be a better match

This season, the Masters will be scheduled at the end of August. That's where FB/Ciz should make their debut. (source : Ice Radio)

Villard de Lans won the Ballet Nationals in Sr (coach K. Arribert) and Novice (coach M. Chantelauze). They also have 2 little teams coached by Martin Chardain, Loïcia Demougeot and Emese Csiszer.
Dammarie les Lys won the Open 15yo + category with Mrs Télémaque's team with Romane and Lucas Coulon.
And Barbara Piton's Les Pétillants ended 3rd in the Open 15 yo - without her couples Dania/Théo and Louise/Daniil but with her baby dancers Lison (12yo, 1st benjamin last season, would be 2nd this season without the error on the FD twizzles), Julia (11yo, 1st benjamin) and Emma (8yo, 1st Poussin)

Villard has 3 new dance couples (source Villard's Facebook) :

The rink of Villard is closed until the end of July so they are in Avignon for 4 days to work with Benoit Richaud ; they will be in Courchevel for 3 weeks afterwards ; they will be in Dreux in July and will come back to Villard in August. (source Ice Radio)

In Dreux and Villard, Tiffany Zahorsky will be part of the coaching team, as well as Martial Jaffredo, coach in Viry Châtillon who coached in Villard from 2007 ? to 2011 during Zoé Blanc and Pierre-Loup Bouquet's senior career (Viry has a little couple - I mean little - that I love to bits).

OMG, how old are these darling children and how does Charlotte already manage to look this fierce?
Charlotte turned 7yo in November and Daniel turned 10 in January.
The first time I saw them during the 2023-2024 season, she was 5yo and he was 8yo.
And the highlight of the season for me was a competition in a rink with hockey plexiglass where Martial Jaffredo opened the barrier, kneeled at the door, put his elbows on the ice and his chin in his hands to catch the gaze and talk to that little girl who was preparing to compete.

Trivia : I don't know anything about them but I've seen their names in some FFSG's decision from last season. It was actually a granted release by the USFSA.

Oh I've seen Charlotte and Daniel's program on Xiaohongshu! They are so cute! Their mother's account (with photos of them) https://www.xiaohongshu.com/user/pr...94eca9dc20b9c30b7dfad&share_channel=copy_link

Thank you for sharing! is there anywhere to watch VDL's CE?

Both Noel-Antoine Pierre and Tilda Alteryd are on ice partner search, so that leaves just three senior age-eligible pairs teams in France - Les Kovs, Faula/Belle and Ehrhard/Pellegris (who have at least one more season of junior eligibility). Anyone know whether EhrPell plan on turning senior completely or if they're going to give it a whirl on the JGP again this season?

Do we know why Vouillamoz/Bouvart switched to Switzerland? He's French, and she skated for France as a junior. Would he really have a better chance of getting Swiss citizenship than she would French?
