You mean her PR agent has told her to backpedal as frantically as she can...

In the replies under that tweet there are screenshots of several replies doubling down on the original statement. She's not fooling anybody.

Sad reality is that she was probably abused by Nassar, too, if you think about it. Gabby's mom is ...not the nurturing type, imo. So she has not had the support she needs during these past 7 years or whenver she started going to camp.

While I understand Simone's reaction, in the cold light of day I think a better reaction would be to call Gabby and ask her to take it down.

But Aly's book and story were starting to fall out of the media coverage, so this gives Aly another publicity boost. Can I hope Gabby is playing a villain to do Aly a favor? Probably not...

So Gabby hashtagged me too. Is she appropriating the hashtag for attention? Or saying something with it?

No clue. She may be a victim of Nasser or just #metooing for other incidents of harassment. Whatever, she dug a big hole with the initial tweet.

Sounds like the former, based on her latest statement where she says that "we were victims of Nassar":

I wondered as much with the #metoo in the second tweet and unfortunately am not surprised. While I didn't like her tweet to Aly, I do think it's terrible that the mob mentality of the internet has essentially forced her to reveal something that is private and should be her own decision whether or not to reveal. I hope that she is shown support but I've already seen many nasty comments online.

Gabby can't win for losing. It doesn't matter what she does, people are going to hate on her. No wonder she never said anything about her abuse by Nassar. I'm guessing from Simone's rapid response, Gabby never told anyone about what she went through which kind of breaks my heart even more.

His court appearance is today in Michigan. According to AP, his minimum would be 25 years, but the judge can go up to 40 years before he's eligible for parole. He's 54.

The plea is in. The perp actually had the balls to say this in court. (from CNN)
"For all those involved, I'm so horribly sorry that this was like a match that turned into a forest fire out of control," he said. "I have no animosity toward anyone. I just want healing. ... We need to move forward in a sense of growth and healing and I pray (for) that."
Well, heal that, creep. Good luck in prison.

Yeah, he has a lot of nerve to say that. Lynn Raisman said it best on Twitter with her response to the "no animosity" part with a f*ck you.

So he's entering a guilty plea, but still maintaining he was "treating" them? Otherwise, why would he even bring up animosity. I can't believe his lawyers didn't write something better than that for him.

I hope his horrible statement contributes to him never getting parole
Unfortunately, the plea deal gives him the possibility of getting out once he's served the minimum. Before the plea, he could have gotten up to 100+ consecutive sentences of 10-40 years. Now he gets one sentence. It's up to the judge to decide the minimum. Based on her comments at the plea hearing, she seem to be inclined to give him the most time that's allowed.

60 years on the child porn charges. Three consecutive 20 year terms. Sentencing for the sex assault charges will be in January.

good! At least some small portion of justice. Those women will be dealing with the trauma and after effects all their lives. It is only right that he feels a small portion of that trauma.

I just read that the 60 years will not start until after the sentence for the sexual assaults. The judge's sentencing order made it perfectly clear that he's getting life without the possibility of parole.

Well, the justice system seems to be working in the right direction against Nassar himself, but it appears there is a long road to go on the civil case. USAG has just filed a motion to dismiss and the language used in the brief just takes the cake:
https://gymcastic.com/brief-in-support-of-usa-gymnastics-omnibus-motion-to-dismiss/

I understand that this is a legal argument they are making and their lawyers have to go with every shot they have, but this language is one more message to the victims from USAG saying "we don't care." It's clear that so many of the victims don't just want Nassar in jail, they want acknowledgement, responsibility and change from the other parties who had a role in letting this happen.

I think this might finally be getting the attention it deserved from the beginning. News & Guts, Dan Rather's new venture, picked it up as a feature today. Their question is why MSU seems to be getting little action, while Penn State was viscerated by the Jerry Sandusky scandal.
