They will not. They will be lucky to make the FS/FD segment of the TE and that will only be if FBCiz don't skate in the TE RD.

So as it stands, Schizas is the only Women skater guaranteed a GP spot (likely 2) if she continues.

Sara-Maude Dupuis is very high on the potential alternate list and may get a spot outright. Gabby Daleman currently would be around 7th on the Alt list and Kaiya around 14th. Fee Ann is a few spots below that.

Megan Woodley, Reese Rose, Marie-Maude Pomerleau, and Minsol Kwon will be age-eligible for seniors but are not looking to be in the top 75 on SB list (all have had 0 or 1 shots to get a SB score and 2 would be moving up from junior internationally...3 if you count Minsol who has not been able to compete anywhere) so (if they move up to seniors internationally) they will all be fighting for a SC spot along with Fee Ann and possibly Gabby and Kaiya. Megan will be at Bavarian Open this coming week in juniors but that would not count for the SB list anyway.

Lulu, Barakhtina, Startek, Lia Cho, and others will be juniors internationally.

Due to travel challenges, Megan Woodley and Jeff Buttle may or may not be able to get to the Bavarian Open as @Sylvia posted.

Just to clarify, Jeff Buttle tweeted at Air Canada yesterday to complain "Are you selling economy tickets at a premium when hundreds of people are being told there aren’t any flights available to be rebooked on?"
Bavarian Open Junior Women SP is on Wednesday, January 28 so hopefully she will find a way to get there in time.

Schizas’s Day in the Life video keeps getting recommended to me even though I don’t follow her (6 times within a 12-hour window). I am not getting this for any other skater and I don’t believe she regularly posts. Curious as to how algorithms are choosing to push certain content so aggressively.

I say bravo to Maddie and the other amazing athletes skating their best for Canada. I try to stay away from the PBP as the few fans who say really mean-spirited things about these young people just so disappoint me and I hope they never see them. It is always interesting to me that we are listening to Kurt Browning, a skater who has contributed so very much to the sport both as an amateur and professional, and yet he earned absolutely zero olympic medals.

They won't, but Maddie will go and redeem herself and finish 13th or something again.

Man, I absolutely despise the vitriol and hateful comments that some people feel justified in expressing online. I was looking at a SkateCanada posting that was just slammed with nastiness towards Maddie. No one can deny she had a bad skate and one of her errors was extremely costly, but no one can possibly be more disappointed than Maddie herself. SkateCanada is doing everything wrong - well Lia Chow is very promising - among others. Even that being said, a lot of things have to go right for years to produce a world competitive figure skater.

As to who represents Canada at worlds, I think there is an argument to be made to send Gabby, especially because she skates with such power and speed and that could help Canada make it in qualifying from the short.

I think either would be in tough to get into the top 10.

There are so many good skaters coming up who will be turning senior internationally next season and the seasons leading up to 2030. I think Canada would make good use of a second spot. If one doesn't come this year I'm not sure there is a front runner for 2027 worlds to make it happen for 2028. Time will tell.

I do feel bad for Maddie. Despite her inconsistencies she has always qualified for the free before now and has been in the top 10 after the short program three times.

Oh well...

I agree and Maddie could come away from this mad and eager to have another crack at that short program. In the warmup , it certainly looked like both the combination and loop were great. I recall Kaetlyn talking about being absolutely exhausted after the olympics and not very pumped to skate worlds so soon after but then that was the one she won.

Maddie did an interview with CBC and she did say that she would come back stronger. So she’s not retiring yet.

It's so frustrating to me when fans (and especially "fans" and every four year "fans") act as if someone who had a bad performance personally harmed them. Obviously the person most hurting is Maddie and everyone needs to chill out.

Maddie had the one genuine bummer outcome for our team in Milano, but as far as Worlds goes, I think she earned the right to go at nationals, assuming she wants it.

I didn't mean to be insensitive or offensive with my earlier comment about the worlds spot. Emotions were raw in that moment. Maddie has been our best and most consistent skater for a while now and I have always supported her.
I felt so bad when she said "I'm sorry" when leaving the ice. I was chatting with a friend and said "Oh no, now she’s saying sorry I hate it when athletes do that you don’t have to apologise to us. I mean, I know she was apologising to her coach but still."
Sports do tug at the heart strings. That's why we watch and love them.

Let's not forget many said that the same thing about Romsky after he bombed in Beijing and he had the highest finish in 2022 Worlds. Gabby just started competing again thank season. Ot seems a bit premature to say she she should go to Worlds

I can't believe people are seriously proposing to send Gabby instead. Yes, she did reasonably well at Nationals...but Maddie has demonstrated this year that she is our #1 skater. She had 2 excellent programs in the Team Event... she had a very costly slip up on the 3F-3T...it's not like she bombed that element.. And yes, the loop was a big hit for the program... But she deserves to go to Worlds if she chooses to, and maybe she can qualify us to get 2 women at next year's worlds. She is certainly our best hope for that.

Fans can be annoying like fickle. One bad outing and they give up.
