2026 Olys Womens SP PBP - Cheated Rivalry

There's been a lot of snarky comments made about his age on this forum during these Olympics. Things along the lines of he shouldn't be here ... isn't he, like almost 30 years old, and similar comments.

And .... just for the record, 28 years old is not "old." Getting up there for a singles skater, yes ... but in life, it's still SO young.
A lot of the sentiments were directed at the Chinese Federation for possibly forcing him to compete longer than he wants.

Kurakova’s dress is beautiful without the dark areas; they distract, I think. Great red on her. She always looks like she’s got short arms and legs. There’s some pretty moments in her skating, but mid-pack is her fate, I fear.
I keep waiting for her to skate lights-out, but she’s always just a little too cautious.
+5 for the pierogi

I read that differently. He wanted to retire but was sort of forced by Chinese fed to keep on skating. Like Chenxuan Li (?) before him. And that makes me mad - not his age. If he wanted to skate - all the power to him. But propping him up (from China) because of a name....

Elena Romanova (original coach in Austria), Rostislav Sinicyn (new?) are listed in Olga's ISU bio - were both in the kiss & cry with her?
When Olga still lived in Vorarlberg, she trained quite often in Oberstdorf. Sinicyn did choreography. I think he was listed as coach, too.

That's how I interpreted most comments. And because he was such a young phenom it feels like he's been around for a long time.

Please find me any comment that was about him being old as opposed to being about the concern that the Chinese Fed is going to make him keep competing/is already doing so because they don't have any other men.
