2026 Olys Mens SP PBP - A Minion Ways to Dies (Irae)

WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!! :drama:

PS: You’re in the wrong thread. :saint:

Tell me you’ve never been to the Palavela without telling me you’ve never been to the Palavela.

In other news, this is how real Presidents support their Olympians.

eh, I'm in the wrong thread and you're being your usual self - day by day, year by year, it becomes more apparent why you're drawn to a guy like Cizeron.

Beyond seeing some amazing and Olympic worthy performances tonight, I had a a wonderful humbling experience with a remarkable young German woman named Karoline. She gave me permission to share her story.

She is battling a serious illness and her trip to the Olympics to see men’s figure skating was part of a Male-a-Wish type program. She didn’t elaborate, but said she’s limited to being out about 4-5 hours a day.

She’s a huge Adam SHF fan and even made a tribute video of him. She said he liked her post!

Watching her watch the skating made the night even more special.

It reminded me how skating and sport can bring people pleasure in times of great pain. I know it’s sappy, but a good reminder to us all (myself included) to be kinder to people, even strangers on a message board.

So as we are likely going to be very divided over the rest of the skating results, especially after the free dance - let’s take a minute before posting - and try to be respectful to each other, to the skaters, their costumes, coaches, music and anything else.

I’ll try and likely fail (see my snarky post earlier about Eteri and hugs). I’ll also try to remember Carolina and her positive outlook and passion for just being present and enjoying the skating.
I hope she might get to meet him in person.

And thanks for reminding us how wonderful and fragile life can be. I wish her many good days.

Much to my shock, I could translate that to English pretty well without looking it up.

Not bad for someone who spoke only clinical Spanish in my medical days, and mostly when I was in GYN - which doesn’t make for polite conversation…😳😏😝

Just getting back. That was such a great night of skating overall. I really loved Adam and Junhwan. They were definite standouts in terms of performance and giving us art. Also loved how Ilia withstood the pressure after looking vulnerable in the team event. He has such a champion’s mentality.

Yes, the prudes in this thread are just old, fuddie-duddies. Who also recognize that figure skating is NOT the same thing as a night out hitting up the clubs.

There are millions of little kids who watch the Olympics every four years and I'm not sure I see the point in throwing butt cheeks in their faces the way Fournier-Beaudry does in the RD. The same can be said about a lot of the dresses we see on skaters every year there is a Latin RD theme.

Also, don't forget, there are plenty of us who didn't care for Loena's nude leotard bottom of her FS dress 4 years ago.

You may not be nearly as concerned about modesty as some of us and that's your prerogative, but that doesn't mean that, in this instance, you're in the right about it.
I don't care too much one way or the other but I will say this: The thumbnails that some make of skaters has me rolling my eyes a lot. And you know what is even worse? The Jardiance ads we are subjected to warning us about anus and genital problems. STOP PEACOCK MAKE IT STOP!

Getting back to the subject at hand I'm curious to see if Cha can put up some big numbers. He was lovely.

I think the top three had awesome skates. But the skate of the night was Max. I'm glad Torgy skated like he did. but Max chills.

I know these skates are not popular opinions - and "mean spirits" can hurrumph. (Joking - I know no mean spirited)

The tug at my heart was Kevin - I know it might be a train wreck free program, but he had tonight.

And the Minion got to come to the Olympics!

I hope the next minion movie has them going to the Olympics.

Loved the comp. So much great skating. Really happy for our American guys, great job! I adore Ilia, he is just amazing and it's the Olympics, of course there will be drama. Always is. Perfectly happy with the scoring. The FS will be epic, I am sure. Looking forward to all the rest of the skating of course!

I’ve never understood the Yuma craze. To me he’s just fortified junior. Yes, I’m a size queen I suppose. The little guys don’t give me “men” and I want a man! Please prepare your rotten fruit for the launch. I’m planning a sour rum punch 🤜

This is one of the wildest things I've ever been forced to read on this website.

No more internet for today. Time to go to bed.

Didn't get to watch live so just finished.

Ilia - got the job done, skating safely. Good for him.
Yuma - overscored, would have had him behind Adam.
Adam - killed it - would have given him the highest PCS of the night.
Grassl - I don't get how his quad lutz gets called clean and Shaidorov gets a q. Bleh.
Shaidorov - skated with the most confidence he's had all season.
Cha - the axel looked good so the q was a surprise. Would have probably been in 4th with a later skate order.
Aymoz - happy for him. redemption.
Torgashev - was awesome. Could easily be in the 90s with a more consistent season.
Marsak - damn those were big beautiful jumps.
Naumov - nice for him to skate clean and get that reaction.
Egadze - no review on the 4T seemed odd.
Hagara - no review on the 3T in the combo seemed odd, since that seemed under or at least q in real time and slo mo.
Kao - headcase. sad to see so much talent this low.
Li - so thrilled he qualified. been a fan ever since his lights out heart on his sleeve skate at the qualifier.

Excited for the long tmw - hope Adam holds on for a medal!!!

He’s having boot issues. Either one boot was duck taped together or it was a back-up boot. Of course he could have blown it anyway, but in this case he had a big challenge.
oh noooooo - didn’t know. so unfortunate for him.

speaking of - what was up with litvintsev. he just seemed oddly disjointed - thought maybe there was an equipment issue or something.

Watching again tonight, I really feel for Yuma. That's such a wonderful, dancey program. And he skated it so well -- all except for the stumble. :(

Just got caught up and wow, what an awesome short program! Adam was the highlight for me and probably should've been closer to Ilia in 2nd above Yuma but I'll take it given how his season has gone. I'd be happy if this was the final podium.

Jun's skating is so gorgeous, if they'd given him the extra 2-3 points in PCS he deserved, he'd be a solid 4th.

I definitely got tears in my eyes watching Max, what a moment for him! Nice to see Torgs go clean as well.

Finally caught up and watched everything after work.

Great skate by Ilia, but Adam wuzrobbed. He skated out of his head tonight. Obviously skipping Euros was the correct move for him. I hope his free is just as great. Yuma, sigh... just not quite the magic of the team event.

(((Shun))) I do have to wonder if the team event played with his head today. He's been so steady all season. :(

Kyrylo Marsek :cheer2: Most inspiring skate of the night, and so thrilled he out ranked Gumennik, who I found far from impressive today.

Cha's axel error really was painful, as he easily could be in fourth instead of Grassl. :scream:

Very happy for Max but Torgy.... as wonderful as you were, really STILL with these level 3 steps and spins??? :wall:

After all the publicity and drama... I was sadly underwhelmed by the Spaniard's "Minions" program. :slinkaway.

Just wondering what happened to Lukas Britschki (sp?)? Did he get injured? Wiki says he qualified for the Olympics.
