That was so exciting!! Who declared pairs dead?!? Way to go all 5 teams!

One of the many magics of the Olympic season is year 1, 2, and 3 of the quad everything and everyone is trash and then all of a sudden, BAM, out of nowhere, there's a competitive podium in each discipline. I remember looking at the GP assignments and thinking holy Boitanos, there are at least seven pairs teams that could medal and at least five that I want to medal.

I can't really decided if I want Team Japan or Team USA to win. I just want Kaori and Yuma to have a gold medal SO MUCH, I don't care how. Gubanova is two seconds from doing full out Slutskaya face pulling. She clearly feels this music more than her SP.

I am surprised Gubanova does not have back and shoulder problems with the way she wrenches her upper body for every jump.

Salchow and final 2A looked visibly underrotated in the arena. Looks like they’re reviewing second flip and lutz which looked ok to me other than her typical mule kick.

I'm in the minority where I like the kissing silhouettes on the back of her dress and I don't hate the voiceovers in this program. But, these jumps are all getting reviewed, starting with the 3s in the first half. She's going to leave the door open for a clean Gutmann - which is no guarantee.

I'm usually a fan of voice overs just for the LOLz but these voice overs are just vomit inducing, not funny.

Ilia's voice overs are also terrible for a different reason.

Wonderful skate for Anastasiia, but with a few reviews to come on the jumps in the middle of the program. Her best skate since the Olympic qualifier.

Redemptive skate for Gubanova. I absolutely loved her when she was a junior and won the JGPF but since then she always seems somewhat detached while she’s performing.

Cashing in. Broadway has been relying on known film IPs and adding random songs to scenes and getting rid of what little subtext existed in the mid films they were adapting. And now they’re wondering why the art form is struggling all around.
