Carreira/Ponomarenko Need a Cheer Thread

Hey squad! Let me share you this: https://forms.gle/p9AVYL3Tfe7HZFNHA
There is a project to create a special gift to be presented to them in Milan, filled with messages, dedications and wishes, memories from across their journey, photos, or anything people would love to share with them.

I invite you all to take part, as the project created after Skate America was a great success and they absolutely loved it — so now let’s do something even more special!
It’s wonderful to let them feel all our love during such an important competition as the Olympic Games:love::love::love::love:

As someone who’s only a few seasons into watching ice dance, and for the first time heading into an Olympics actually knowing the teams instead of just watching every four years 😆 I’m curious how this all shakes out.
With Z/K winning 4CC and basically swapping World Standing spots with CPom, they should still be in that penultimate warm-up group but does the skating order follow World Standings, or is there a draw within the group? I’m really interested to see where Christina & Anthony end up relative to Z/K going into the Games, especially with all that momentum from a gold medal. I personally prefer CPom’s material, especially after the changes we saw at Nationals, and I think if they put out two clean skates, they could have a really great result. Curious to hear others thoughts?

Agree 100%.

There is a draw within the sub-group - so, basically ZingKol, ReedAmbru and CarPon draw for SO #s 16-18 for the RD.

My suspicion is that the "storyline" regarding scores for this season is pretty much set and the order of the US teams at nats will be their order at both the Olympics and Worlds provided everyone skates clean. Ice dance scores are not super reality based lol.

However, cpom have done an amazing turning their season around and getting that Olympic spot, so who knows what they can do from here on out. I just hope they have a wonderful first Olympic experience.

Agree with @Rukia. One other thing to note - this entire Olympic cycle has been notable with how the US #2 has changed almost yearly - and a lot of that has been dependent upon the material each team comes up with in any given season. GreenP were at the top of the heap when HawBak were sidelined by injuries, and then poor material allowed CarPon to rise, and this season poor material pushed CarPon down a notch while ZingKol rose with good programs, though last season they'd dropped behind GreenP due to weaker programs. It's been a real see-saw and I don't see that changing even if fans of other teams like ZingKol are flying high at the moment.

Hi girls, I really wanted to share this thought with you. I saw that ZK’s GoFundMe has reached $19,000, which shows how much love and support their fans are giving. Knowing this, it honestly so sad to know that the CPom's fandom hasn’t sent many messages, photos or thoughts for the dedication book we want to give them as a gift in Milan.

Please, if you can, keep sharing this and take part if you haven’t already. Even a small contribution or message can mean so much and together we can show them how deeply they’re loved!

How are they being presented this gift in Milan? Is this a digital book or a physical one? Thanks.

Hopefully a physical one, if more people send messages. I know they’re already receiving fanart and photos with fans, so they’re very kind and open. But they need more messages to create a really nice gift. Then I know they’ll know how to present it to them, both digitally and physically ❤️

New interview with Back the Team -- really more of a fluff piece, but there are some nice quotes in it. (Also some typos, but oh well. )

They had more than some typoes 🙄

Yeah, I don't like to see people put out sloppy work like that (especially as I'm an editor in my day job)! Hope they clean it up.
Glad to see BackTheTeam's post has since been corrected :):

It's funny that they still give the photographer credit to Christina though when she's in the pictures... :)

Except that Carreira still is misspelled as Carrera in the fake handwriting on the last slide.

I get that BackTheTeam is not a journalistic endeavor; it appears to me to be a for-profit start-up that sets up mentorships for a fee.
Emphasis in original: "In partnership with U.S. National Governing Bodies, athletic directors, and coaches nationwide, we’re bringing world-class mentorship into households, athletic clubs, schools, and communities." "The program is $150 per month."

It's funny that they still give the photographer credit to Christina though when she's in the pictures... :)

Cynical me is skeptical that BackTheTeam acquired formal permission to use the second photo from Adrian Meyer Photography and the fourth photo from Maddie Meyer for Getty. And not blaming Christina, but I also am skeptical that she even owns the rights to the other three; if not, she would not be in a position to give permission for usage.

Especially if(???) a partnership were in the pipeline with USFS, I hope that BackTheTeam will show more professionalism when it is marketing itself by promoting worthy athletes like Christina and Anthony.

Just in case this pre-season 5-minute interview (this one was uploaded back on Nov. 5, 2025) was not posted in this thread earlier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnm_NByhoa8
Caption (scroll down for timestamped links):
Figure skaters Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko reflect on their incredible 12-season partnership in this in-depth interview. The duo got together as kids, both moving away from home at age 13, and essentially grew up together with only each other to rely on—a bond that has strengthened over more than a decade.
Christina and Anthony discuss their approach to the Olympic year, treating it like any other season mentally while heightening their focus on the small details: nutrition, staying healthy, and showing up with intention every day. Christina, who has lived in the US since she was 13, speaks emotionally about representing Team USA and how wearing the flag at the Olympics would be the biggest honor.
The partners share insights into their music selection process for this Olympic season—how it was tougher than previous years trying to find that special moment for Olympic ice. They reveal their dynamic: spending 4-5 hours together daily, texting even on vacation, and already wondering what life will be like when they retire. When they step on the ice, they sync their breath, connect, and become one team—and they wouldn't want to face competition any other way.

If you’re on TikTok, give Christina a follow! She’s been sharing more practice clips and some really cute stuff lately ☺️

I noticed she posted yesterday that they are leaving in 3 days (also Emilea Zingas is in the comments of several videos which is fun and I hope they all enjoy their first olympics)
