[Wang/Liu]

I think this team was lucky to more or less 'hit' at the Olympic qualifier because I don't think they've looked very good since and it's like all their energy went into that competition. Tentative, slow, major distance between them in holds, pattern had almost nothing hit for levels.

Twizzles 4/4
Midline 1/2
Pattern 1
RoLi 4

'Illness and health problems' is why they sat out.

I just can't with this horrible mix of the music into the feed and the camerawork, where half the routine is recorded from far away and/or overhead.

I'm off to bed. Enjoy!

Hensen/Lickers

Ricky Martin #10 between Euros and 4CC.

Midline 2/2
Twizzles 4/4 -- GOE should be lower here
Pattern 1
RoLi 4
one of the weakest ChRS I've seen all season. Almost zero content until 3/4 of the way through it

Fournier/Zhu - Yikes! Nasty fall. Lost the element. They seem very slow and the error sucked out the energy as well. Tech score is loooow. Poor guys.

ETA: Chris says "It was a little bit ragged to say the least". Understatement of the year.

I just got home and looked at the start order and was both surprised and pleased.

Anyway, glad I only missed the first two couples.
I skipping 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown to watch the dance :)

And James May and the Dull Men which is hilarious.

Fournier/Zhu

Twizzles 3/4 -GOE - she stopped moving on the second set. This level should drop.
Midline 1/1
PSt Base level fall, she looked extremely tight through the whole thing and then he ended up tripping her and wiping out himself. 1.25 points overall, negative points if you consider the -2.00
RoLi4

Poor things. Those falls are horrible. They didn't look very comfortable. And she is lucky she didn't land on the back of his blade while watching the replay.

They ran out of money for a costume for him I assume (not being snarky - they are probably too low down the pecking order to get funding).

Stanley/Urano

Twizzles 4/1
Pattern 1
Midline 1/2
RoLi 4

Presentation and Skating Skills below 5.00

Mexico - that was a strange combination of music selections. They gave it a good go :P. But quite behind the standard of what we will see.

Stanley/Urano - Twizzles are not being friendly to the skaers so far. Otherwise fine. Slow but got through it. Agree with Chris that they weren't really skating to the music.

Xiao/He

Midline 2/1
Twizzles 4/3 - he broke slightly on the second set but actually quite smooth
Pattern 1
RoLi 4

Why can't they be China #1 :-P

Xiao/He - The music edit is terrible. They have a bit more energy, but in the middle they were also skating with music in the background. Elements seemed okay.

Didn't the 4CC skaters get the memo that every second team needs to skate to Ricky Martin (I see there was one earlier)? ;)

Chinese team - they did okay. Nothing to deduct on the elements. Were okay with the music. The last part of the music gave me visions of Sparky the choreographer from Bring it On.

Male half of the Brazilian team comes from Reading UK where we used to live, so I'm already keen for them to do well on that basis alone.

Crap - another twizzle error. They need to smooth out their skating but they seemed to be enjoying themselve, so good job.

Pallu-Neves/Panesar

Twizzles - 4/Base
Midline 2/1
Pattern 2
RoLi 3

Weak all-around, pretty basic choreography but still fun

Brazil - that was a bit rough. His face during the lift was scary. He was the weaker of the two. The music on the TV is too quiet to hear properly.

Ren/Xing - They are a LOT faster than the previous teams. Eeeek - her twizzles were all over the place. Nice use of holds in the pattern-like steps. Yep, quality just went up exponentially.

ETA: Only third? Okay....
