2025-26 Program Music and Choreographers

I'm already envisioning the PR answer, the song has taken on a new meaning, Maia is a cancer survivor, etc. Then comes the inevitable internet comments about how Alex's version if helping his sister involves screaming in her face about how much of a bitch she is.

It's gonna be a long olympic season y'all.
💯 To everything you just wrote. Had all the same thoughts.

This is my new favourite program. Don't even need to see it first 🤩

Yeah, sorry, this is just rude of them. If they can't even summon up the energy to give us a new FD, and giving us reheated leftovers yet again, I'm done. I don't like calling skaters lazy, because we don't know what's going on in their lives, but if they really couldn't manage that much, they should not have come back.
Announcement: I wrote this post while half asleep and grumpy at a bus stop, and under the conviction that the Shibs had already repeated Fix You as a FD at least once. Upon reflection (and checking wikipedia), it turns out I was wrong about this, and was probably thinking of the exhibition version.

I would therefore like to retract the words "yet again". That is all.

Also, Jimmy, what the hell, man?

Actually, they did include a portion of Fix You (the music) in their 2018 Oly FD. They started the season with just Paradise and then at Nats showed up with a portion of Fix You edited in.

Yeah I was going to say this is definitely the 3rd time they've had at least part of Fix You in a program and the 2nd time to retread past stuff (I'm counting their Paradise program as a retread which I realize may be a hot take but i'm standing by it).

I KNEW IT!! i'm re-adding the "yet again"

I’m not defending them, especially in light of recent events, but I posted this earlier in the thread…

As much as I'd like the Shibs to skate to something besides Coldplay, I think many of the posters are mis-remembering how very little Fix You was used in the 17-18 Paradise FD. They had a musical phrase in from Fix You on the GP series, and then added lyrics/music in for Nats and Olympics. From their SL lift the lyrics went 'stuck in reverse'. Then it went back to Paradise or some transitional music (not Fix You) through the stationary lift. Then came the lyrics 'lights will guide you home' into the twizzles, but the music for the twizzles was back to Paradise for the rest of the program. Maybe :17 of Fix You in total.

Although I can see where some might think all Coldplay songs sound alike

I remember exactly how much but at the end of the day the vibes that are off and alex shibutani is the #1 reason why so anyway i'm just taking it all out on this music choice

You have to admit that this seems more authentically Jimmy than Turandot does

Isn't he a classical piano player? Jimmy MF Ma is multi-faceted.

Dance is giving us plenty of camp, but maybe Jimmy didn't think there was enough in the men's event.

Maybe he decided to go out with something fun. Or get the kind of energy from the crowd that Alysa did with her free program at Worlds.

YOOOOO I just went to their US Fanzone page out of curiosity and Perfume is now listed as their 2025-26 FD!!! https://usfigureskating.org/sports/...ristina-carreira-and-anthony-ponomarenko/1120

Paging @skategal! :D

ETA - and @SkateSand:

2025-26 [#3] FD Music: "The Girl with the Plums," "Perfume - Distilled" and "Meeting Laura" from Perfume - the Story of a Murderer and "The Big Smoke," "Strictly Taboo" and "Deceit and Betrayal" by Audiomachine

From their wiki (2023-24 FD music):
"The Girl With The Plums" (from Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) By Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek & Reinhold Heil
"Strictly Taboo" "Deceit and Betrayal" By Audiomachine
"Meeting Laura" (from Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek & Reinhold Heil
Choreo. by Marie-France Dubreuil, Scott Moir, Madison Hubbell & Adrián Díaz

You guys! We got video!

It’s being discussed in their fan thread, but figured it also belonged here. Carreira and Ponomarenko have ditched their Notre Dame de Paris FD and are returning to Perfume.

It's such a sad development in figure skating that everyone who fails to achieve anything with their new programs puts the blame on the program and goes back to something from the past.

Come up with something new FFS. Yagudin had a completely new program by Worlds back in 2000 after he lost his European title to Plushenko. 6 weeks and that mf won with an entirely new program.

Except for MR programs, they really have to go.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure it was the theme of Broken Arrow and the shooting of the gun at the judges that maybe had them scrambling for something new-- he even said he wasn't comfortable with the program, whatever that means. And 2000 Worlds, the free skate for Yagudin was way below his normal standard. He won and all, but he really left the door open for Plushenko who imploded even more-so after steamrolling everyone all season.

A more interesting example to me is Savchenko & Szolkowy who showed up to 2009 Skate Canada with a week-old or so free skate and they set (what was at the time) a world record there for overall competition score. Their earlier free skate was panned after an earlier international and their first Grand Prix.
