We decided to stay the night we would have had to travel through the Berkshires late at night as well and we’ve been caught there before.

Same, I had an 8am flight which would have made us leave at like 3am to play it safe but I bumped it to 2pm and now
with the few skaters that are leftI was feeling absolutely horrendous last night so I stayed an extra night. I have no idea how the hell I’m gonna get to the airport today though.
I'm 100% sure I got food poisoning from my chicken sandwich yesterday for lunch.
I'm spending $350 to get a taxi to the airport.

We drove west through the lake effect last night. Visibility was poor but with only a few inches of snow on the road it just took much longer than normal.
I grew up in the region and followed skating closely in the 90s and 00s so it was wonderful to go back, catch up with old friends, and soak up the energy. My mom, who also loves skating, is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s but was like herself from 20 years ago for a few days. Truly a gift.
