Skate to Milano OWG Qualifier - Beijing CHN - Men's SP & FS

Puzanau - love Teddy Swims, so it predisposes me to like him (especially as he is singing along). He lost control of the first two jumps for sure. But he is trying to salvage something in this program. Love his smoothness of his skating. Haven't seen him skate since the ban, but he is so much better.

The smoking miming just makes me think about smoker's rights and the Runthrough Dance Lore episodes.

4Tq - two-foot landing, step out
1A* - invalid element
Flying Camel Spin 4
3Lz+3T
Step Sequence 3
Change Foot Combo Spin 4

Change Foot Sit Spin 4

The performance was tight, and forced, and he was struggling with many of the choreographic moments in the program.

66.38 = 2nd Place

His own composition?

Dmitry Dmitrenko of this generation, I'm all in

(Didn't someone once say Duhamel/Radford should technically get 10s for interpretation since they were interpreting his own music? :lol:)

Certainly one way to avoid dealing with the music rights issue.

It's a nice piece of music. Even if he isn't successful as a skater, he could have a future as a musical composer for skating programs.

Having problems with getting music rights - compose your own music.

Gouveia - skating to his own music and I'm here for it. He skated nervous and tight, but he certainly feels the music. And truthfully the jump errors didn't particularly impact the program for me. Real messy sit spin to end. Really enjoyed his musical composition for this program.

Change Foot Camel Spin 1 - loss of speed

The heel flick feature in the spins is interesting skill when displayed by skaters who can do it, but when you force everyone to try it - particularly skaters who don't have that level - it's just makes for poorly done spins.

50.20 = 3rd Place

Judge - enjoyable skater and program. The triple lutz was pretty nice at the top of the program. Looked pretty nervous and tight also.

In due course (probably after a couple of groups have been completed) , a playlist should appear for the individual skates - check on this page: https://www.youtube.com/@SkatingISU/playlists

The audience is larger to start the day today than it was yesterday, but it's still pretty sparse. Hope more Chinese fans show up for the pairs & women later on - there's the strong likelihood their entrants will officially qualify China for the TE by the end of Day 2.

They opened ticket sales 10 days ago. However, the lower sectors were sold pretty good for today, so I would definitely expect more people later in the day

So, Douglas Gerber is trying to out-theatrical Anthony Paradis this season with the one-armed, fitted & red, black & gold blinged-out tunic.

Gerber - another enjoyable skater and program. Good attempt at the 3A, would watch this program again. Looked like he was having a good time. Can't imagine being skating at this level while I was in medical school.

Borromeo - well the jumps escaped him, but I really enjoy his skating. He looks like he really enjoys skating this program. Should've received better GOE on his fly sit and his footwork imo.

3A - messy landing, two-footed, hand down
3F+3T<< - turn between jumps, toeloop landing also messy
Change Foot Combo Spin 3
3Lz - step out
Flying Sit Spin 4
Step Sequence 3

Change Foot Camel Spin 4

That was a struggle with the jumps - some nice line, and presentation, but it was kind of lost with the errors.

Some nice moments in the performance, but just rushed the Lutz take-off, and that caused a cascade of errors in the jumps.

64.92 = 3rd Place
