Well, Tkachenko/Pesca are now listed as WD, but we will still have 4 groups for the RD, which is just under way!

So, apparently, part of the 2030 Vision includes providing the tech panel audio to the viewing audience, at some point. Or at least to the commentators who can provide that insight to the viewers, and they're doing a test run with the RD here today.

Israel's gone from no junior teams to two in under 4 months, lol.

Nekhaeva/Kravchenko - black & fuchsia for both of them - and yay, our first Jock Jams program of the day. Yes, I'm betting there will be more than one, lol. They've only been together less than 4 months according to Mark. And she falls right at the end of the program - rotational lift had an X in the tech box, so they may have lost the element?

ETA - Ted says the tech panel determined the fall happened on the exit, so the lift will count, but clearly they're going to get the base value, but obviously negative GOE.

van Mulders/de Vos - she's channeling Britney Spears, which makes sense since they're skating to "Baby, One More Time" and "Crazy." Well, I rather enjoyed them. There's some potential for this new team.

It was happening yesterday too - Ted mentioned it a few times. Also the idea of utilizing AI in some way to supplement the "one camera view" for assessing edges, etc. is part of the vision.

Wasn't paying super-close attention to the Poles or Deych/Hu, who had a fall during one of the elements. Despite the fall, Deych/Hu are leading by nearly 4 points.

I think Ted is talking about it more today, during the RD, and he knows less about Ice Dance and is learning from what he's listening to :D

I’m pretty interested in the tech side so would maybe appreciate if they put the tech panel feed up on YouTube, but I would rather have as few things as possible on top of the skating during the competition. Tech controller mic plus commentary - less music to get rights issues?
Israel's gone from no junior teams to two in under 4 months.
And if Epps/Gilman had stayed in the US they’d probably have got a JGP this season, but switching to Israel with only two spots they’re missing out.

Slatter/Gregory - decent rhumba pattern, very British twizzles, he looks uncomfortable lifting but gets the job done, a bit messy on leg line and synchronicity but that will come with time. Best 90s hair so far on Ashlie.

Ice resurfacing underway after two of four groups.

Oh dear, Dania's grown almost as tall as Theo. I hope this doesn't bode ill for their partnership. I've had all the dance splits my heart can take. 😬 Nice performance with lots of energy. Into 1st by .19!

Mouaden/Bigot have so much charisma and talent but the programme felt pretty generic. :blah: at the half-headstand worm combo. Was her top meant to be like that? It looked uncomfortable to skate in.

Straubs looking stronger this year than last, but got some bad levels. Seems like the juniors are doing better coming up with fun '90s programs than most of the seniors so far.

On replay

Deych/Hu

Fully crimped hair, which is more 80s, love how their legs stay in excellent unison during the Rhumba, she falls on twizzle sequence, and he bumps into her which causes him to abort his twizzles as well--too bad, somewhat shy interpretation

On a related note, this is why I don't like it when the fed confirms a second assignment before the first one happens

Koch/Chataignoux
new team, nice matching bodies in Rhumba bit careful through the steps, I liked the ease of their quickstep better, okay twizzles a little slow, nice debut, clear new leader

Bielodonova/Kachur
Ice Ice Baby. Good twizzles, nice flow through the Rhumba, not as successful on quickstep, fun program, going in and out of interpretation, but when they are focusing on presenting rather than the elements, they look like they are having a blast

Slatter/Gregory
New team, she's very blonde, achieving good levels on rhumba, out of sync on first set of twizzles, definitely skating a bit cautiously--not the freedom of teams that have been together for a long time, he has some work to do on finishing elements/steps and not putting his free leg down too quickly, good potential together, solid foundation to build on

Robertson/Rohner
Soft knees, nice patterns, he gets stuck on twizzle sequence and doesn't keep the forward movement, nice speed across the ice and I just love their basics, think they can add more expression, musical engagement, and connection to go with their strong technique

Veillon/Brandys
opening felt a bit undercooked, good levels on quickstep, slow on last set of twizzles, I usually enjoy this team, but this program was not my cup of tea, good skate, though

Mouaden/Bigot
They are growing up, worm-ish move!, beautiful edgework, like the little details interpreting the music, the best so far in interpreting the program while doing pattern steps, they've still got "it" but have added maturity

Straub/Straub
nice choreography during midline steps to match the music, low levels on rhumba and quickstep (no keypoints), program kinda dies out at end instead of ending with energy

Catching up on Slatter/Gregory. Ashlie looks so grown up now! And I can't get used to her as a blonde. But that was a decent first outing for them. Lots of work yet to do, but there's potential, and their personalities seem to be gelling pretty well.

Michelle Deych/Ryan Hu 🇺🇸
Age: 17/17
Coach: Igor Shpilband, Natalia Deller
Music: Ricky Martin Medley

Rhumba 1st Sec 4 + kpYYYY
Quicksstep 1st Sec 2 + kpNNYY
Sequential Twizzles W: M: - Michelle fell, & no credit for this element
Midline Step Sequence W:2 M:2 (W:1 M:1 after review)
Rotational Lift 4

-1.00 = Fall(s)

Strong skaters, and an unfortunate fall in the twizzles that negated that element. Michelle fell on the jump into the twizzles, and slide into Ryan. Ryan's boot hit Michelle's shoulder as she slide along the ice, and thankfully not his blade.

44.67 = 10th Place

Iris Lahti/Oskari Liedenpohja 🇫🇮
Age: 15/19
Coach: Neil Brown
Music: Rhythm is a Dancer, Mr. Vain

Sequential Twizzles W:3 M:3 (W:4 M:4 after review)
Rhumba 1st Sec 2 + kpYNYN
Quickstep 1st Sec B+ kpNNNN
Curve Lift 4
Midline Step Sequence W:2 M:1

The skating is a bit rough, and that's not surprising given they are a new team. Lots of little things to be smoothed out as the season progresses.

46.37 = 9th Place

Seraina Tscharner/Laurin Wiederkehr 🇨🇭
Coach: Alisa Besseghier, Lucie Mysliveckova

Sequential Twizzles W:4 M:4
Rhumba 1st Sec B + kpNNNN
Quickstep 1st Sec B + kpNNNN

Straight Line Lift 4

The skating elements were their weakness, but the performance was a strength, and I thought they did well with the Daft Punk music.
