Would agree. That music was pretty dull. I think it maybe helped her just vibe through it, but if we’re being honest the music is a snooze fest and not memorable at all. It isn’t Olympic is another way to put it.

But if it helps her skate a free skate well then I suppose by all means keep it.

Almost all of her free skates have had the exact same layout and feeling to them. But anyways, 'Olympic' feeling or not, she was running away with competitions until Worlds last year and she has to know if she delivers, especially in the short program where the 3A can give her some cushion, she's still going to pull the marks she needs to potentially win. It's not as if this program was panned all season by the judges.

I agree that all of Glenn’s free skates have been similar, generic, and unmemorable. If keeping last year’s program helps her land her 3A and more importantly skate faster, I’m all for it.

I do think she runs the risk of losing to Liu and Sakamoto, and potentially others, even with higher jump content if she continues to skate in slow motion in her free skates. There were times last season where she was so slow that I wanted to go out on the ice and push her. Landing all of her jumps probably gets her bronze but may not get her silver or gold without more oomph.

It would be a great time for a masters division.

Yes! I know that the pro competitions were overdone and often cheesy in the 90s, but the Landover pro competitions were really good, and we got to see some great skaters do excellent work after they retired.

It's not just Kaori and Bradie that are likely to retire. It's very possible that Amber will. Alysa might retire again, too. (She said that she was going back to college after the Olympics, but did not say she was going to retire.)

Jason Brown and other men probably will join Shoma Uno. There are bound to be retirements from high profile dance and pairs skaters as well.

It would be cool to have a masters competition that encourages creativity. And it could include same sex dance teams.

Massive speculation running all over X (and I presume reddit) that Amber is re-using her FS from last season. Gabby Daleman posted a clip of a 3z+3t combo at WASA & folks correctly identified Amber's FS music in the background.

Paging @AngieNikodinovLove (ANL) so he's adequately prepared if the spec turns out to be true whenever Ms. Glenn announces her music for this season.

First of all, when you tag me it’s no longer appearing in my Alerts… I need to reach out to admin?

I posted the triple triple of Gabrielle 2 days ago, is it in that video?

Amber doesn’t strike me as someone to rear use program so I would be curious.

Update from Mia Kalin -

She's definitely stepped away from the sport - and is, FYI, no longer listed on the USFS' ISP. So, that answers that question about the SkAm TBD spots & who was, realistically, in the mix.

Sad to hear but hopefully something good has come out of this for her. Yes, now we know why she did not get the invite. Wishing her the best and whatever she does.

In what parallel universe do you live in if you are even remotely considering Amber a slow skater? Lol. She’s one of the fastest in the business, right there behind Kaori.

Of the three US ladies, that competed at the worlds in Boston Amber is by far the fastest. The other two skate relatively slow.

As Tara and Johnny constantly say she is flying into these jumps.

Well, two of my faves have left the sport. That tracks for how the year is going. Yes, I know I'm being selfish.

Honestly, making these choices must be devastating and so difficult. It requires immense strength to stop the ride and get off. I hope their parents are supportive and finding a way to deal with their own grief, if they have it, in a productive way.

Oh dear, I try to find this post of yours and here it is. I just re-posted the Gabrielle triple triple video and there’s definitely no Amber music in there. Unless there’s some other video clip.

I didn’t validate this myself, but saw a tweet earlier today claiming that Gabby took down the original video and reposted with a different song later after people started speculating about Amber’s music.

Again, just Twitter random chat, but I did see that.

I had seen the original Gabrielle post two days ago and I remember when I saw it she only posted it nine minutes before I saw it so who knows at this point. Lol why is Amber at WAGA right now….

Not to stay on the subject, but….

Yes, Amber Glenn is known for her fast and powerful skating style. She is praised for her speed and "bounce in her knee" on jumps. Her skating is described as having a "dreamy quality with a lot of speed". She is also recognized for her ability to integrate neurotherapy and visualization techniques to enhance her performance, including her speed.

I don't think it's reading too much into Mia's post to say that it sounds like there was abuse of some sort going on. :( I hope she's okay, or will be.
Yes, it sounds like it was her previous coaching situation. I'm glad she at least had a positive experience with Massimo and Philip.

I hope she filed a SafeSport complaint, if it was in fact the coaching situation.

It’s interesting, but I don’t think Amber would’ve said two weeks ago I’m announcing my music in mid July and then the announcement to be “refer to last year.”

And there’s also been a minimum of two videos, showing Amber getting choreography, which I believe was to both Kaitlyn and Katherine so that would signal two new programs.

It could be a new short program and a new exhibition?

In any event, it is mid-July now, so hopefullly we'll find out soon.

However, it may be that USFS wants the top skaters to wait until next month. They are promoting next month's Summer Sizzler in Boston as being the event where top American skaters (including Amber) will skate new programs and be the Olympic season preview.

Here's the SCOB announcement:

And here is a USFS promotion:

Doubtful. If that were the case then we wouldn't know ChoBat are doing a modern/contemporary flamenco. Sure, we don't know the exact pieces of music, but, especially for ice dance, just the theme/style is a pretty huge reveal.

Sad to kind of hear what Mia was going through. She looked like a completely new skater at Nationals to me. I had no clue who it was at first. I hope the break, or permanent retirement is beneficial to her.
